The summer day was hot. After noon, it was the time when people were most easily sleepy. Afraid of disturbing their master's rest, the servants of Lord Jing'an's residence subconsciously slowed down their pace.
At midnight, a girl about eleven or twelve years old came out of the kitchen with a food box. Her black hair was tied up high on her head with a crown. She was dressed plainly and did not look like her master, but she was not dressed like a maidservant in the residence.
When the servants saw her on the way, they stopped and bowed. She did not even look up as she entered a courtyard called the Qiongyu pavilion with a straight face.
The servants were already used to her reaction.
The girl went straight to the main room of the Jade Pavilion. She was not slow, but she did not make a sound.
"What are you doing here?"
Her sudden words shocked the two maidservants who were hiding under the porch and muttering something.
