I sat calmly at the dining room table, and Dembe sat across from me, he wasn't eating his food but looking at mine.
My face was one of great concentration and dedication, I slowly picked up my knife and fork smoothly cutting off a piece of steak, I then dipped it in mashed potatoes.
I slowly raised the fork to my mouth, exhaling I steeled my nerves and ate the bite, I closed my eyes tasting every flavor. I almost cried, I finally could eat garlic again, so many food dishes need it, and I finally can taste it without my whole throat burning.
"Congratulations!" Dembe said happily
"How does it taste? As good as you remember?" he asks
I nodded a smiled, "it tastes divine,"
"If you weren't already such a good bodyguard I would have hired you to be my chef," I added with a good-natured laugh
He chuckled, "I do cook most of the meals already,"
I shrugged, "you're a better chef,"
"Anyways, onto more serious topics, I have a rally to go to later today, are you good to out in public? The heightened senses will be a pain for a while," I asked while taking a sip of the dragon blood in front of me
It has a nice kick to it.
"I think it would be best if I stay home and train," he replied while drinking a glass of whisky he isn't used to drinking blood so freely yet
I nodded, "alright, I will see you when I get home, remember to practice the basics first, start with adjusting to your new strength, agility, and flexibility then move into the more unique abilities,"
He just nodded and continued to eat happily. As did I.
Dembe really is a good cook.

I stood in front of a giant crowd of people, I didn't have a big speech today I just decided to hang around and participate in the rally.
I smiled and chatted with many people, since Dembe was out I hired a security team to make sure no one tries to start a mob or something.
I smiled and shook hands with probably the hundredth-something person today, "Mr. Queen, I just want to say I'm a big fan,"
I calmly thanked them and bid them farewell, as the rally was coming to a close I headed to my car.
As I approached my car I used a wide area of affect mind control technique I found out about, it is basically like the notice me not charm from harry potter except people notice me but feel like they might embarrass themselves if they approach me.
I got into my car and started to drive off toward my house, but suddenly Thea texted me asking to meet up at my bar.
Wait Why is she at my bar? She is way too young to be drinking and my employees know better than to serve her any alcohol.
I quickly replied and then texted Dembe that I was going to be back later tonight.
Driving through the roads I immersed myself in the music playing, it was a nice night. The moon was out shining in all of its glory, and the stars shined bright, the roads were clear, and a soft breeze accompanied the cold weather.
I pulled into my bar parking lot, I noticed a nice car but didn't pay it any mind, Thea probably took one of Oliver's.
Walking through the door I didn't see Thea but I did see Oliver. I sighed, she really can't grasp the concept of letting us do things on our own.
One of three things is about to happen, Oliver leaves, I leave or we talk.... The last option would be the most chaos-inducing.
"Thomas, you can leave," I said to my bartender on shift tonight
Luckily we only had a couple of customers left and they seemed to bet the idea to leave after Thomas did.
I waited to see if Oliver would leave. He didn't.
I locked the door and turned to him, "so I saw Sarah is back in town, you weren't going to tell me?" I asked
"Wasnt my place," he replied stiffly
It seems neither of us wants to talk like this But, at the same time neither of us wants to leave.
"Could have told me, or are you just that mad?" I asked while calmly pouring myself a drink
He scoffed while moving to make himself a drink, "I'm not mad at you,"
"Then what is it, Oliver?" I asked maybe a little too sharply
"You know, I can't get the sight of you ripping people apart with your bare hands out of my mind, I remember stuff from the island I wanted to forget. It's hard seeing your brother like that, what did they do to you Lucas? And with Walter, why would you do that?" he asked with a bite I could tell he was bottling up his emotions but speaking his mind
"What did they do to me? Oliver the island did this to me, I wouldn't be like this if my own brother, my own blood didn't abandon me like I was a piece of trash. Did you even look for me?" I replied instantly
He frowned before shooting back, "didn't look for you? Of course, I did Lucas! I thought you were dead and I still looked! It's not like I could text you,"
"Listen I'm fine with you pretending to be the same Oliver just a bit more mature, I'm fine with you forgetting everything the island taught us about leaving enemies alive but, you being mad at me for killing? You are a fucking hypocrite," I replied downing my shot of vodka
"I do not need to kill someone to defeat them, and I'm fine with you killing Lucas, I'm fine with you going around fighting literal superheroes but, you are like a foreign person, you don't tell me anything!" he yelled at me while walking closer
"Oh and you are the bloody patron of truth and virtue? Are you fucking kidding me, Oliver I still don't know what you did on the island but I'm not over here avoiding you for it," I replied losing my cool for a second
"Lucas, you know more about what I went through than I even know about you in general! You were just a fucking death omen traveling around ripping people apart on the island with a smile on your face! You almost attacked me, ME! Now you are repeating the same steps but in a place with a lot of innocent people. Mayor? When have you ever wanted to be Mayor? You won't even talk to Mom, you put Walter in jail, and you walk around like everything is fine. It's not fine Lucas!" he spat out tapping me on the chest with his index finger
"Our family was connected either way! It was Walter or Mom would you have preferred mom to go to jail? I am running for mayor to improve this damn city, I am doing everything for the betterment of our family and this city, I might not be running around in a hood every night but I am doing far more than your narrow mind can see!" I replied shoving him back
I didn't put much strength into the shove but he stumbled back knocking over a few bottles.
"I can't even recognize you anymore," Oliver replied while heading for the door
"Turning your back on your own brother wouldn't be the first time for you," I spat out as he left
-Narrator pov -
Deep in the underground bunker, Viktor our resident mad scientist was not having a good time. His body was now as frail as can be without out him being actually dead.
He couldn't move his body, he couldn't even get up to go to the bathroom, he was collapsed on the floor, and the only thing he could see was the meteorite.
Speaking of the meteorite, it was now riddled with cracks, like a spider web they expanded almost the whole meteorite.
As the dark matter energy left his body Viktor couldn't help but think of the conclusion he came to minutes before collapsing.
On the computer a file was open, its title read, [A portal to a different world?]
'What have I done,' was the last thought Viktor had before his heart stopped beating and the meteorite exploded
