Nick listened to what Celeste had to say and then turned to look at Charity and said, " Vanessa will not agree to this right? She will not take this case on right?" 

It wasn't that he couldn't bring herself to trust her, he knew that she was a smart woman, a woman who cared about him a lot but at the same time she was selfish and vain, with greed that knew no bounds. Vanessa might care about him but that was because she liked him other than that her feelings didn't stretch any further. 

In case Celeste offered a sum of money that Vanessa could not refuse then what? What was going to happen to Cassidy? 

" You should not be asking questions whose answer you already know, Mister Nick," replied Charity as she turned to look at him with a slightly different expression, different because he couldn't comprehend what she was feeling at the moment. " You will only be disappointed."
