Max's Point of View:
I smiled over at Scarlet, who was sipping wine and talking with the guests. She looked perfectly happy and content with my proposal—which was everything I could ask for. A notification hit my phone, and I looked at the screen. It was from Martin.
I remembered the conversation we had when I went to my parent's house earlier.
~ Flashback ~
"Hello, brother," I said to Martin, who opened the door.
He looked at me, shocked for a moment, but then a smile occupied his face. "Well, this is a surprise, Max!"
"I need your help," I shrugged, "Of course, in an exchange for whatever you want in return."
He smiled.
"Come on in. Dad's out on some business, so the house is empty."
I had already checked my father's whereabouts. I had no intentions of meeting that son of a bitch, anyway.
Nodding, I entered the familiar place. I took a seat on the couch and Martin sat across from me.
Shoutout to @Tracy_Mosher who has always supported me in every single chapter! I had given up on the story but I continued because of her. [Hope you don't mind this, Tracy!]. Also, I would like to ask you all a favor again: please check out my new book and give me honest review. The review doesn't need to be positive, but please don't leave blatant hate comments, either. Anyway, thank you so much! Love you all (and especially Tracy!) xoxo
