I went over to Max's room just to check one last time. Max had asked me to come see him and Scarlet once after he was done with the drug procedure, just to confirm she had no memories of me.

I could feel my heart dropping to the pit in my stomach as I finally entered the room. She was still lying on the bed with Max hovering over her. Just the thought of them spending the rest of their lives together was revolting.

"Ahem," I coughed and Max looked at me. The smirk on his face was enough to tell the story, but I wanted to see it for myself. I walked over to her bed. She was still unconscious but seemed to be gaining it back. Her fingers were trying to move.

I was focused on her when I heard Max say slowly, "If she had forgotten about you and all your memories, then don't you dare try to remind her. Act like you don't know her either."
