Chapitre 18: Like a different person
After knowing a little about her family, Bai Liyue asked the next important question. And no, it wasn't about her 'perfect fiance' or anybody else. All of these meaningless things didn't matter much to her. Her first priority was to clear her reputation and for that, she needed to know every single little detail.
Scandals or news about her getting into catfights, wild parties, or outrageous behavior wouldn't harm her much. As far as her morals and ethics were right, as far as she wasn't committing any crime, people wouldn't hate her much. Yes, they would gossip about her and get over it. But scandals such as her getting into somebody else's relationship/marriage and committing adultery were a big deal.
This type of scandal could harm her career and dreams. Bai Liyue couldn't let this kind of scandal remain and make big smears on her reputation. If she was innocent, then she needed to clear out her name. But how?
What if she wasn't innocent?
What if Chen Ziyue was really in a relationship with that rich businessman?
Bai Liyue frowned at that thought. If Chen Ziyue was really in a relationship with that businessman, then things would get messy. She would have a hard time clearing her reputation. But deep down in her heart, for some reason, she didn't feel like Chen Ziyue was that kind of a woman who would get into somebody's relationship and commit adultery.
"Tell me all about that scandal. What exactly happened that night?"
Yuan Li paused. "Umm... Ziyue, you have just woken up. I think you should get some rest. As for that scandal, I'll help you out. Like always, I'll sort everything out. You just need to recover while I will handle everything and clear your reputation."
"Is that how things were done in the past?" Bai Liyue questioned.
Yuan Li nodded. "Yes."
"Well, that was the past. Things need to change now."
"What do you mean?"
"Start talking about the night," Bia Liyue said without giving an explanation for her words.
Yuan Li frowned. "But Ziyue, what's wrong? I have always handled your scandals for you. I can do this. Just give me some more time."
A dangerous glint flashed through Bia Liyue's eyes. She smiled at her agent and said, "You had two years and yet, you didn't do anything. Am I right? People still think that I am that rich businessman's mistress, right?"
Yuan Li nodded with her head down.
Bai Liyue snorted. "Tell me something, Yuan Li. Was I having an affair with that businessman?"
"I-I... I don't know," Yuan Li replied.
Bai Liyue smiled. Such a big thing happened and her agent doesn't know. How can that be possible? She raised her brows at the agent and frowned, "Are you not my agent? Aren't you supposed to manage my personal and private life? Aren't you supposed to take care of all these things?"
Yuan Li was speechless. For a second, she didn't know what to say. This was so unlike the Chen Ziyue she knew. The previous Chen Ziyue would leave everything in her hand and not care about her these things so much. She trusted her fully to solve these things. But right now, everything seemed the exact opposite. It felt highly uncomfortable to answer these questions when she was faced with Chen Ziyue's questioning eyes.
Standing in front of her, she felt like a prisoner who was getting interrogated. It seemed like Chen Ziyue didn't trust her now. She looked the same, but at the same time, she felt like a completely different person.
Yuan Li sighed, thinking that the loss of trust and the change of behavior was really because of the memory loss.
"What's wrong? Why aren't you answering me?" Bia Liyue asked sharply.
"I-I... Ziyue, when I first met you, we signed a contract where you wanted me to stay out of your personal life," Yuan Li answered.
"Oh!" Bia Liyue nodded. "But didn't you say that you were my friend? If I was in a relationship with that rich businessman then I would have told you, right?"
"I-I... " Yuan Li stammered. She didn't know what to say. Of course, she knew that Chen Ziyue was not in any relationship with that businessman. It was someone else. Chen Ziyue was wrongly framed in the matter and all those photos and accusations were nothing but lies. After all, the person who planned all these things wanted Chen Ziyue to suffer.
And as Chen Ziyue's agent, she played a little part in all of these. She helped that person to harm Chen Ziyue's reputation and in return, she got a lot of money. At first, she didn't want to do this, after all Chen Ziyue was her cash cow but soon, greed overcame her and she become an accomplice in that person's plan.
However, never in her wildest dream, did she think that Chen Ziyue would commit suicide because of this matter. She was so scared because Chen Ziyue's suicide was a big thing. Chen Ziyue wasn't any ordinary girl. She was the eldest miss of the Chen family and Mr. Si's fiance. She was worried that these influential people would easily find the truth.
But to her surprise, everyone was so used to Chen Ziyue's bad reputation that nobody bothered to find the truth of the matter. Everyone easily accepted that she cheated on her fiance and was having an affair with that rich businessman. It was only Mr. Si who claimed that his fiance was innocent but had no proof regarding Chen Ziyue's innocence.
People started blaming Chen Ziyue and saying all kinds of stuff about her. Even her parents who were so disappointed in her didn't bother to find the truth. On top of it, the mastermind who planned all these assured her that they will never be caught. They will be safe. After that, it was declared that Chen Ziyue was in a coma and it was difficult to say whether she would wake up or not.
For the next two years, Yuan Li lived in peace.
