Chapitre 22: Who Killed Her? 2

Neil was still speechless, his feet nailed firmly to the floor. He even had to remind himself to keep breathing. Never in Neil's mind had he ever had to see this scene before his own eyes and the way the blood gushed and flowed from Michelia's exposed neck.

He pulled his hand until the red liquid dripped onto the white floor. The strong iron smell wafting from Michelia caused his head is once again caused and spin. The headless body leaned back in the chair and piled its weight on the edge of the table with the head lying on the table. Fresh red blood stained the table like paint on a canvas, dripping and dripping onto the floor.

The images of Michelia's smile, her voice, and her laughter echoed in Neil's mind. Disappeared quickly when he was again pulled back into consciousness by Michelia's current state.

As if Neil's soul was being pressed so tightly out of his body that the blood drained from his face making him pale, Neil lifted his lips and whispered in a stuttering voice. "Who killed him? Who did it?"

No answer he gets and how alive Neil is once again caused him to come off his axis. Neil's stomach seemed to be churning inviting him to expel the remaining food in his stomach, also with his spinning gaze.

Neil's feet shifted back and forth away from the thick smell of blood and that terrifying sight until was all bumped into something hard behind him.

"Neil, breathe." The deep voice whispered right in Neil's ear.

Neil gasped for air, stuffing oxygen into his lungs. He subconsciously grasped the wrist of the man who was grabbing his waist tightly and closed his eyes, trying to neutralize his fast heartbeat.

Neil's body was led to nowhere because his mind was still on Michelia. He was suddenly doused in a cool breeze and his back was against the tree and the grass tickled Neil's hand which was lying at his side.

Neil still felt his heart beating fast, he opened his eyes slowly which was immediately greeted with pitch-black eyes staring intensely at him from a very close distance.

"You need to calm down," he said in a soft voice.

"Lia, she," Neil paused, thinking of the words to describe Michelia's figure but he couldn't find anything to describe it. "Why, Riksa?"

Neil leaned his head back parallel to the rough surface of the tree, he immediately turned to his two warm hands covered by the other. His fingers were in Sain's hand who had never taken his eyes off Neil since. Neil's eyes widened as he could see how his dirty hands covered in blood had suddenly disappeared as if they were sucked into his skin.

"Look at me," Sain said very quietly, bringing back Neil's attention to Sain.

Neil's eyelashes fluttered from his tired wink. He looked at Sain who smiled in front of him in stark contrast to the feelings raging inside of a Neil. He shook his head slightly channeling his disapproval at Sain to share a smile. "Lia was killed."

"No. He ended it all because there was no choice for him," he said softly and Sain's hand drew an imaginary circle on Neil's palm making him a little calmer. End what? How could it not be done by a murderer? The killer is probably still hanging around his school.

Sain continued, "You have to keep in mind, that she's not the real Michelia. The real Michelia isn't here, and she's fine."

Still, thought Neil. Michelia is still a human Michelia how can Neil ignore that on the basis that this Michelia is not the real Michelia. "What choice?"

Sain shook his head, his lips smiled faintly in contrast to Neil's current mood, but what Neil saw was Sain was hiding something there. Those black eyes looked at Neil with the pain he didn't know the cause.

"There's nothing bad you've ever seen of Michelia." Sain drew closer to him, the warm air blowing against Neil's neck made him shudder and stiffen in his seat. Then Sain grabbed his shoulder to come closer and whispered right in his ear. "So forget about that."

Neil snapped out of his reverie, his head automatically tilted when Sain's lips were on his neck. Neil forcefully pushed Sain's chest away from him after he felt a bite there. "What are you doing?"

"What am I doing?" Sain smiled, his big hand caressing Neil's wet cheek. "Why are you crying?"

Neil looked at Sain confused, he took Sain's hand away from his cheek and then wiped I'm not crying."

Why is she crying? Neil himself didn't know, he looked around and realized he wasn't in the classroom. Is he even sitting here? With Science. What happened?

Neil brushed his damp hair and instantly his brows furrowed in question. His body also felt extremely tired now, as if he had run tens of kilometers away. He glanced back at Sain who was now sitting in front of him still watching Neil's movements. Why was Sain here when earlier he didn't even want to see Neil? "Are you mad at me, Riksa?"

Sain piled his weight back with his hands, then said, "Angry why?"

Neil felt his cheeks heat up as he brought up the night again and the shame quickly hit him. Especially when Neil timidly looked at Sain who was also looking at him with an expression that Neil had a hard time digesting properly. Neil swallowed hard, he shifted his body away from Sain.

Neil finally opened his mouth and said hastily. "Sorry, Riksa. I didn't mean to do that last night."

Sain rubbed Neil's forehead with his right hand which then stopped on his cheek. Neil was surprised and confused by the many touches that Sain had on him. "There will be a lot of wrinkles here if you do that and don't think too much. Your already small brain will shrink."

"Riksa—"

Sain lightly pinched Neil's cheek making his words stop in midair. He then said, "Listen to me carefully. Stop feeling guilty and making wrong assumptions in your mind. About that bad incident, don't keep blaming yourself, let it be the past that you have to stay behind. You just have to make peace with yourself, Neil."

Neil was dumbfounded unable to respond to anything because everything Sain said was the truth which was very difficult for Neil to accept.

Then in the middle of a long silence. Sain said, "If I find them I—"

"That's enough, Riksa. Don't continue," cut Neil. "It's possible that all the bad things that happened to me were because of the sins I committed before I lost my memory. So, I deserved it."

Sain sighed, he rubbed his face and looked back at Neil. "When have you ever done anything so wrong that you feel you deserve it for something you didn't do? You have to remember, that you lost your memory when you graduated from elementary school. What can children who are just entering junior high school do?"

"How did you know it happened when I was in junior high school?"

"I'm your neighbor, my mother gossips a lot. I'm not blind to see it myself."

Neil was silent for a while, he wanted to ask how he was before but Neil didn't want to. He stood rubbing his pants letting the conversation stop there. "We have to get back to class. Break time is almost over."

"I hope everyone has it sorted out." Neil immediately turned his head when he could hear a mutter from Sain.

"What did you say?" Neil asked seeing Sain who was standing beside him doing the same thing Neil did.

Sain only answered with a shake of his head and he came closer to Neil's shoulder to embrace him. "You seem tired?"

Neil nodded approvingly, not knowing that it felt like all his strength was being drained so he went limp as he started to move forward. "I don't know, but I feel like something's missing inside my head. I can't remember why I got to be here?"

"Something you're missing is your brain," replied Sain quickly.

It was enough for Neil to let go of Sain's grip roughly. "You've been weird lately, Riksa."

Neil didn't wait for Sain to answer he walked away leaving Sain behind him.

When Neil entered the classroom, he didn't know why the atmosphere had turned cold. His eyes roamed watching people who have been sitting in their respective seats and busy with their activities and seemed not to notice Neil's presence. Even though the teacher who taught was not in the room.

Neil looked at the watch on his wrist indicating that recess was over, and Neil was ten minutes late when he reached class.

Neil rubbed the back of his neck feeling uncomfortable and a little awkward with the current class atmosphere. He glanced at his seat and immediately raised his eyebrows in confusion, Neil walked over and towards the other students who didn't seem to care at all. Because the table and chairs that Michelia is currently sitting on have disappeared, with Michelia nowhere to be seen.

"I said don't think too much." Sain suddenly spoke behind him causing Neil to be shocked and immediately walked over to sit on his chair ignoring Sain.

Every second that went by made Neil angry without knowing the cause. Neil looked around again but he couldn't find anything that could convince him that nothing had happened, in fact, everything still seemed odd.

Neil nudged the shoulder of another student sitting in front of him and asked. "What happened?"

Before answering the man glanced the other way. "We are in mourning. If you respect the death of your friend then be quiet."

Neil's feeling was getting worse. "My friend?"

However, the man turned around and didn't say anything.
