Eisha stood in front of the mirror combing her hair. Her thirst for blood made her feel a pit in her stomach. She was so hungry.
Being asleep for so long left her with an insatiable hunger that was out, of control, and controlling her feeding was only aiding to worsen the situation for her.
There was no telling when she will snap if she continues to deny herself food. But no matter how hard she convinced herself to feed, her mind refused to obey her.
Impressing Aldrin seemed more important than her hunger. She could smell his scent in the air and knew that he was home, for which she remained put to avoid doing something that might cost her the newfound attraction that could blossom into love.
She brushed her hair to distract herself from thinking about blood. It was futile, she could sense all the beating hearts in the house and the scent of the blood that pumped in their veins.
One blood was drawing her the most. As a vampire, she was turned by an ancient vampire that had a specific type of scented blood. Hence a scent similar to that of the vampire who turned her drew her attention more than any other kind of blood.
Her fangs came out, and the veins underneath her eyes darkened. Her stomach knotted, she was hungry.
Eisha kept the thoughts of Aldrin in mind to calm herself, she knew losing control would mean the death of everyone in the house.
Crack!
The brush in her hand broke into pieces some piercing her skin. Eisha snapped out of it sensing her hungry overwhelming her. She moved away from the mirror clutching her stomach and gritting her teeth.
Her eyes lowered to the ground, and her weak hands shook. She felt weak and vulnerable.
She was lucky enough to find a man who could catch her attention but he came to inform her of a curse. The vampire who trained get had taught her that love was a weakness, she didn't quite understand him since she didn't know love.
But now she saw it. She comprehended why her teacher warned her not to fall in love, especially with a human.
At that moment something clicked in her mind. She had fallen in love with Aldrin.
The horror of that feeling made her heart skitter in fear. She had watched many strong vampires go down because of love, her legacy wasn't complete yet and she couldn't fall due to hunger, she was the feared vampiress Eisha Sallow.
She dropped to the ground. She had never found herself unfortunate enough to curse her luck until that moment. Every inch of her craved fresh human blood directly from the veins.
"Enough!" She shouted at herself. "What is the point of being in love if you won't live long enough to enjoy it?" She asked herself.
"I see no use in dying for love," she found herself saying allowing the darkness of her heart to cloud her eyes. "I suggest we survive for love," she added.
She marched to the door determined to get some food. Eisha stopped in her tracks as Aldrin walked into the room. She quickly turned around and gazed away from him.
'Fuck!' She cursed internally.
Her senses were out of place due to her lack of feeding. She didn't even feel or hear Aldrin coming, it was bad.
"After giving me orders you don't dare to face me?" Aldrin questioned Eisha.
Eisha folded her hands into a fist, with her nails digging into her skin. All to control herself from feeding on Aldrin. She bit her lower lip so hard blood started trickling out from the opening.
"Eisha Sallow," Aldrin barked her name.
Tears streamed down Eisha's eyes. She was stuck between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, another hunger was driving her to the point of insanity and on the other hand, was Aldrin with whom she couldn't reveal her true nature.
"I asked you a question," Aldrin said turning her around. His hand shivered slightly watching Eisha in tears.
Aldrin could not explain it but he felt the need to pull her into his arms and wipe away all her tears. He wanted to ask her what the problem was and express to her that he got her. However, when he opened his mouth, no words came out.
His anger vanished from his eyes leaving him confused. He had come there to drag her out of his house, on seeing the pain in her eyes, he couldn't voice it out.
Aldrin subconsciously pulled Eisha into his arms and hugged her. His actions were beyond his understanding. "I'm sorry," Eisha whispered to him in a pained voice.
Before Aldrin could ask her why she was apologizing, he felt immense pain in his neck. "Ugh," he groaned in pain.
Eisha lost all control getting a whiff of the strong blood she was smelling earlier. The one similar to that of the vampire that turned her. It pained her to think of Aldrin as food and feed on him.
But at that moment, she couldn't see past her hunger. She dug her fangs into his neck. Wrapping her hands gently around him and sucking on his blood. "Mmmm," she moaned to how delicious he found his blood.
She sank her teeth into his veins and drank to satiate her hunger. Her mind was being careful not to hurt Aldrin by reaping his head off while feeding.
Aldrin tightened his hands around her. There was something he was feeling inside of him, all the pain in him was fading with every minute that Eisha fed on him. The emotions that weighed on his conscious withering away.
For the first time in his life, he felt free. All the chains that held him down seemed to break. He wrapped his hands around Eisha and tilted his head to give her more access to his neck. He loved the feeling of not being burdened.
Eisha took the welcoming invitation from him and sucked a little harder. "Ahhh," Aldrin groaned in satisfaction. He had never held a woman so passionately as he did her at that moment.
She found her body yearning for more of his blood, she drank with caution. Eisha's eyes cleared, and she parted her teeth from his neck and moved her head back to look at him. She licked the blood from her lips. His blood.
Looking into his eyes, she searched in them to find any trace of judgment or hatred and disgust. Her heart shuddered with fear hoping he didn't resent her for feeding on him. For who she was.
She didn't mean to feed him, she tried to avoid feeding entirely for him but she can't change what she is or the fact that she needs blood to survive.
His heartbeat was calm and steady as she had found it the previous day. He looked at her with an expressionless face, Eisha could not tell if he was angry or not. He was a hard man to read.
"I'm sorry," her lips moved to say.
Tears flowed down her eyes uncontrollably. Fear paralyzed her body and caused her to tremble, she had never been so weak.
Eisha lowered her gaze and avoided his eyes. He didn't say anything for a while, she was no expert in matters of the heart but the silence was never good in any situation.
Aldrin felt a pang in his heart seeing Eisha's reaction. He didn't understand how he ended up in that situation but he understood what she was.
Dark veins under the eyes, afraid of the sunlight, moving at the speed of lightning, ability to heal faster, and fangs, not one but surprisingly two pairs. She was a vampire.
Yet this truth didn't scare him, rather it comforted him. He reached out his hand to her chin and used his finger to raise her head. He made Eisha look at him, his heartbeat picked up seeing her in tears.
Eisha heard it and froze, what she had feared came true. He was afraid of her, she pushed him away and ran to the bathroom. In one swift move, she managed to get in and lock the door behind her.
Her heart was beating so loud, it was in her throat choking her of breath. Her knees weakened as she fell to the ground. Eisha hugged her legs struggling to breathe.
She had never felt so hurt of being herself. It was something she had always been proud of, but at that moment she wished she had been human. At least she wouldn't have terrified him as she did.
In that situation, it was hard for anyone to look at her as more than a predator. She understood why Aldrin felt scared of her.
She closed her eyes and cried.
Aldrin remained rooted where he was. It confused him why Eisha ran away from him, he wanted to wipe her tears and tell her that it was okay. When she suddenly ran from him.
He placed his hand on his chest, feeling his raced heartbeat. She made his cold heart pick up a beat, it was something that no woman had ever managed to do.
It made him smile.
