Avana waited for him to tell her what was on his mind, wondering what could be bothering him that was so hard to share with her.

And when he finally revealed the truth, she looked at him with dread in her eyes. She discovered that he was the monster underneath her bed, in her dreams, no nightmares.

He was the horrible creature that had her running for her life. Now, she was packing her things and ready to leave, not wanting to stay a minute longer in this place. 

He had fooled her. They all did. They all made her believe she was safe with them, while they knew who she was. He called her by her real name, Avana Dumont. There was no doubt.

"I am Prince Adam Cromwell, Prince of the Vatalis Clan and son of King Charles." As if that was not enough, he continued. "I am the one who killed many of your ancestors."
