Chapter 278: Moment of truth

Waylen's POV

The sadness in my father's voice tugged at my heart.

"I mean you have a kid and you look at them…and the thought that anything could hurt them is unbearable. You are my heart on the outside, kid. We used to be so close. Do you remember the walkie talkies we used to communicate every night? Whatever happened to those?"

King Cole smiled. "Anyway, I'm glad you are okay. I should go"

I watched him. It made me realize that my father got old when I wasn't looking.

He used to be this larger than life man I looked up to…now he looked…human.

Then it hit me - Dr Avery was right.

I pushed my way back into the room. Dr Avery was there, he was waiting patiently.

I sat down…for a while we sat in silence.

"I know why I can't tell Emily about my attacks"

"You do?" Dr. Avery asked me.
