“Dtengmo, this is the famous Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon temple,” my mate explained as he carried Dtengmo on his shoulders. “An old friend of mine took me here once,” he added. The solemnity in his eyes told me it had to be Luna Ploysai.

I stood from afar, taking in the scene; maybe it was rather weird to admit, but I was equally impressed with Anurak’s parenting skills as I was the stone carved Moon Goddess statue.

After setting her down, he handed Dtengmo a lotus petal and the both of them gifted the Moon Goddess the flower, kneeling as they did so.

“Meh!” Dtengmo cried out, rotating her head over her shoulder, beckoning me. I walked forward with an unconditional grin on my face; I finally felt at peace.

“Coming!”
