Chapitre 168: Monolith

The first thing the scene shows are thousands of dead goblins, hobgoblins, and many other monsters laid on the ground, scattered about within and around the large mountain where their base was.

The magic enhanced wooden palisade which sealed the lair's overarching entrance was destroyed by its own giant architect in a desperate attempt to save itself from the same fate as its brother who also lay dead, surrounded by a pool of its own blood which poured from its neck.

Toby, the Mages, and the Knights, covered in the blood of their little victims, surrounded the goblinmancer who lay on the ground next to the pool of blood.

The poor fellow looked at Toby with his hatred eyes, as if he wants to destroy everything around him. However, the eyes of the man he looked at were not the eyes of a simple man. They looked back at him with eyes that seemed dead inside, as if they had already seen their fair share of horrors not even he could fathom.

Toby and the knights were all the same, their eyes were devoid of all emotion and the gleam of humanity that once shined within. Maybe this was their gift? A gift bestowed upon those who had seen the horrors of battle and war? Sure, they only fought against these lowly monsters but these so-called lowly monsters were their enemies still.

They outnumbered the knights but they still won, armed to the teeth yet the knights won. What was the prize for their victory? Nothing but vengeance. They saw the aftermath of the villages which lay in ruin along the path they took to search for the mastermind, men, women, children, all fallen by the sword of these green abominations and their master, a creature who loved his own for magic and control.

Like a dog with a nose of steel, Toby sensed the naked dead women inside his quarters. Two knights volunteered to check it out and as soon as they opened the wooden door whose lock they had to stab out, the bodies of five different women welcomed them.

They reported this back to Toby and it quickly spread to the other knights. Disgusted, their eyes then filled with rage, locked onto the Man-bear-pig on the ground.

"Hahaha! Fools, you can't kill me, for I am cursed with true immortality!" The man on the ground laughs and mock the knights, seeing their eyes, he knew that he was about to be murdered but that will be still futile.

"Oh, we're not planning to kill you," Toby suddenly said, breaking out a smile before kneeling near the goblinmancer's face.

"Tell me... what is your name?" Toby asked.

The creature known as a Haryo didn't answer and kept staring at Toby with a frown look on his face showing him not fearing death.

Before he became the King of Monsters, 900-1000 years ago, the goblinmancer feared death the most, and thus he did everything he could within his physical and magical capability to attain true immortality.

But it was not enough, for some reason, immortality was something not even the Demigods whose power far surpassed his still aged and died slow deaths.

Why? What was the secret? What caused aging? Was it a curse by something like a Witch or Dark Magic? Or was it something else entirely?

He knew not the ways of science and so, delved deeper into the tainted pages of magic books and came across the teachings of the outcasts, Gods who were banished from their place in high heaven for their miscreant deeds.

One particular outcast he knew of was Monolith, the God of War and Violence, he went by many titles and names but he loved that title more, yet, he was also the God of Despair, Sadness, Debauchery, Insanity, and Depravity. Before the Forgotten Era and the Second Great War, he was one of the first to guide the dead souls of this world to the afterlife but due to his one failure, the 13 Gods and Goddesses of Fordalt cast him out and used their churches to completely destroy his Church, which resulted him gaining the title of a Myth and false God today.

For decades, Monolith keeps having thoughts of gaining revenge against the Gods but facing 13 Gods is not a possibility for him, especially since it will catch the attention of the other gods in Heaven, it also includes the Council of the Upper Gods of Heaven.

And his not stupid enough to face them as they are considered as the strongest Gods of the entire Universe and the infinite cosmos.

While it seems it was hopeless for him, after the Second Great War, he suddenly became the servant of the most powerful Gods that could rival the Almighty Godfather.

The Lord of the Endless Void.

The Boundless Entity.

The Death of the Endless

Or the God of Death himself.

An outer-god that could end the universe if he wants to, and could eradicate every strongest Gods in existence, including the Council of Deities themselves.

For centuries, he became one of the God of Death's subordinates and gave him countless tasks, and he didn't object.

900 years ago, the God of Death found the goblinmancer's fulfilling, and so, he gave Monolith a special blessing from himself and ordered Monolith to return to his original world and granted the Haryo the power and the Ultimate blessing from the God of Death himself, [True Immortality].

[True Immortality] is an Ultimate Blessing, rivaling the power of Ultimate skills and World Items, it is considered the toppest of any immortalities, no matter how you kill the person, that person will come back, either Destroying his soul, Erasing his existence, using many Death Manipulation spells especially that mid-level spell {The Goal of All Life is Death}, the person will always come n

back as the God of Death usually declines it unless he allows it.

However, before Strurruilk could gain it, The God of Death gave one condition, according to the God of Death, the Haryo has to raise an army of the god's own personal breed of monsters and rule over parts of the continent with them.

Especially with goblins.

Why also goblins that many of them were just weak E-rank monsters? It's because they were savage creatures whose instincts involved all of his titles and the more these goblins committed their deeds, the more powerful he would become.

And unlike any world of the Universe, the world of Fordalt has a unique phenomenon to increase most resident's strength to the point that it could rival lower gods. And Goblins being born in there, some of them will be growing strong, reaching and leveling cities is not possible.

Yet, this was all done 900 years ago when the army was bred and taught by Strurruilk. Monolith became impatient and feared it might anger his master, the God of Death, he needed to do something, something to save himself from his Master's wrath.

Well, that was one of the reasons, another reason he didn't object to his master's orders was because he loves the plan too.

But the problem is that the world is too peaceful, no more great wars, no large battles that will cause millions of lives, nothing.

Except for the time his worshipers cause a murderous rampage on the city of Orazvil few years ago and the Beastmen invasion, unfortunately it just ended for several months, which all it is still not enough for him.

But then, they came.

From another world, another dimension across space and time. A race he did not know existed for he was aware of their world but…

He did not know that one survived.

They came into the world and put the high gods in crisis, they sent out an aspiring blue goddess whose relation with her sister the White goddess made her a top candidate within the ranks of the gods.

Yet, she was defeated again and again until she met her demise a few months back. The heavens were shocked and many called for their own intervention.

But this was where the outcasts banded together. Behind the scenes, another war broke out and this war was fought in heaven. When the Counsel of the Elder Gods sent down the other gods to vanquish the metal demons and their leader, the Outcasts were gathered together by his Master, the God of Death himself and they fought.

It includes Monolith himself.

In the beginning, he expect he stood no chance against the other stronger gods but ever since the metal demons started their bloodshed, terror spread, and killing billion lives, his powers returned stronger than ever.

The war was still not over, many gods, goddesses and outcasts had been slain, yet the numbers were still large.

Why did his master, God of Death do what he did? None may know, it includes Monolith, but he doesn't really care as he loved war, but he felt there was also another reason behind his master's actions.

Back to the scene, Monolith, watched from the sidelines, seeing the scene through his Projectile Clone as his master's redeemer slit off the throat of the last hobgoblin, he smiled and looked on as the leader of the Metal Demon whose heart and mind were still human, returned to his comrades.

"At last, forgiveness."
