ZEKE POV
" Are we really doing this now? " I asked Asuka suspiciously.
' After all, what would the kage even want with me? Sure, I was a close friend of his granddaughter but that shouldn't warrant him to want to meet me all of a sudden.' I thought to myself.
"Yeah yeah"
" Don't worry about it "
" Grandpa is a pretty cool person "Asuka said as she gave me a thumbs up.
' Yeah, easy for you to say ' I thought to myself as we walked up the stairs and stood in front of the door that led to the kage office.
'There is a great number of anbu's hiding in the ceilings of the building' I thought to myself as I went upstairs.
While a normal ninja would have great difficulties pinpointing their location I had no such troubles thanks to my observation haki.
I could even tell when the anbus followed us around when I was with Asuka. It was quite funny when they tried to hide on top of rooftops and trees.
Pretending to not notice anything I continued talking to Asuka before stopping in front of door that led to the office of the Uzukage.
*Swish*
An anbu dropped down in front of me.
" The Uzukage sama will see you now"
" Your grandfather asked for you to wait outside Asuka sama" the anbu said to us in a monotone voice.
" oh okay"
" Good luck Zeke Kun " Asuka said with an apologetic look on her face.
" It's okay. " I replied to her as I waved my hand and entered the room.
The inside of the room was pretty much as I expected a kage's office would look like except for the scary oni masks that were hung up across the wall.
' That's a weird choice for decoration.'
' I didn't know that they celebrated Halloween here ' I thought to myself as I observed the rest of the room.
There was a large floor to ceiling window behind the desk that overlooked the village.
The desk in question was filled with stacks of papers and scrolls with a single crystal orb in the middle.
' That's an odd place to keep that ' I thought to myself looking around the room trying to find the man that I was here to meet .
' Where is he?'
' I could only sense the Anbu's in this room. ' I thought to myself as I sensed one hidden in each corner of the ceiling.
Pretending that I didn't notice them I walked towards the masks on the wall to take a better look at them.
Taking a closer look at them now I could tell that these masks were not used for mere decoration.
No.
I could feel something dangerous hidden in these masks with my Haki.
It felt as if there was something unnatural hiding in the mask.
Something mystic.
An odd sensation of wanting to touch it started to creep into my mind.
It felt as if something was trying to compel me into wearing it.
Spooked I took a few steps back.
All of a sudden intense Anger, Hatred, Envy, basically every negative emotion written in the fucking dictionary started rolling out of those masks in waves.
It was as if the masks were offended that I didn't reach out to them.
' What the fuck are those things' I thought to myself as I took another step back.
*Bump*
' what the.' I thought to myself as I felt a hand clamp itself on my shoulder holding me firmly in place.
" ANBU'S OUT" someone shouted from behind me. His voice sounded ancient but no one could deny the power behind his voice. It commanded both Respect and awe.
' This must be the kage' I thought to myself as I felt the Anbu's leave the room.
' But why can't I sense him??'
' It is as if he is invisible to my senses' I thought to myself baffled as my haki had never failed me before until now.
" So tell me boy."
" Why didn't you reach out for them."
" Surely you must have felt them reaching out to you " The kage whispered out.
" I don't know… They just felt wrong to me ." I replied to him as I didn't know what else to say.
There was no need for me to lie to him. Especially when I didn't know what the old man was capable of.
In cases like this honesty is indeed the best policy.
" You have some sharp senses. That Combined with your other gifts would make you a formidable foe in the future. " He said to me with his hand still tightly clamped on my shoulder.
' Did he just say what I think he said ' I thought to myself as beads of sweat started to form on my forehead.
' Damn you Sato sensei… Did you rat me out' I thought to myself.
" I don't kno-"
" I know about your little Kekkai Genkai boy" He said to me. Cutting me off mid sentence.
" how…"
" Did Sato sensei tell you" I asked him feeling betrayed.
It was as if someone drove a stake in to my heart.
" GURAGURAGURAGURAGURAGURA" The Kage laughed out loud.
" Your beloved teacher did nothing of the sorts" The kage said to me as he turned me around to face him.
The old man in question looked almost identical to a certain old Espada from bleach. The only difference was the kage had longer hair than the Second rank Espada, Barragan Luisenbarn.
" Then how did you know? " I asked him.
" That is for me to know and for you to find out" he said to me with a smile on his face.
" Is that why you asked me to meet you ? Because of my powers?" I asked him suspiciously.
" IN a way, Yes."
" War is brewing boy, Both internally and externally."
" I have no doubt that our enemies from outside will take advantage of our civil war to attack us."
" You are no doubt a very talented individual. One that was born with a gift like no one else had ever seen before in the elemental nations."
" while you are still very young, I have no doubt about your potential to grow. "
"Plus your friendship with my granddaughter is an added bonus. "
" So I want to make a bet on your potential for the future."
" The question is are you willing to take that bet? " he asked me with a smile on his face.
" what will happen if I accept your bet" I asked him cautiously.
" Then we will throw all the resources we have at you in order to speed up your growth. From taijutsu to ninjutsu to even sealing arts. Nothing will get left behind."
" But there is a catch for all of this."
" A favor if you will." He said to me as he turned around to look at the village through the windows.
" what is it?" I asked him.
" I want you to protect my granddaughter and keep her safe from anything that might want to harm her in the future" He said to me as he looked dead in my eyes.
" Done." I replied
Asuka was already someone I considered to be a close friend of mine. Even if the kage didn't say anything I would have protected her no matter what anyways.
