Chapter 14 Pregnancy
After knowing that she wanted to start a new company, Lucas had been trying to help her, but she refused. She didn't want to rely on him.
He had no choice but to hide his help. For example, when she was looking for an office building, he had already found it for her.
"Martin, isn't the newly completed commercial building of the Lucas group and Chen group attracting investment? Try to let her know the news."
His assistant Martin replied, "Okay, but Mr. Lucas, it's difficult for Mrs. Ashley to get a foothold in the company with fame and prestige."
"It's none of your business. I'll arrange it myself. You just need to do as I say."
"Got it."
Martin didn't ask any more questions. He would do whatever he said. This was what an assistant should do.
Ashley soon knew from her former partners that the Azure Building was attracting investment.
She knew about this building, but she didn't expect that it had been completed for investment promotion. The Azure Building was the best choice in both locations and in any way.
Although she was a little nervous, she still brazenly wrote an email to participate in the competition.
However, she was told that the investment promotion of the building was almost over and the company that had settled in had been confirmed.
But there was another good news. There was a company setting the smallest branch on the first floor which is not fully used. If she had any intention, she could go and have a look.
Of course, Ashley had an intention. Her career had just begun, and she didn't need many positions. It wouldn't be too late to make a plan when it developed in the future.
She immediately agreed to see the building the second morning.
It was a sunny day. She wore a thin long sleeve shirt, khaki suit pants, and a pair of high-heeled shoes. She tied her hair behind her head and drove there.
"Are you Miss Ashley? I'll show you around the Azure Building today. It's my honor to meet you."
He reached out a hand and she shake with him politely, then she followed him to the corresponding floor by elevator.
It had to be said that this floor had a broad view, and the other company had begun to open it. There was a large space next to it, presumably the one mentioned on the phone.
She had only seen this kind of company mode in Japan before. They are generally small companies that would work in beehives without interfering with each other.
"Miss Ashley, that's exactly what we're talking about. It's difficult to attract investment because of the small location. We've planned to be free in this way. If you agree, we can discuss the price."
That's great. Ashley was very satisfied. She looked around and became more and more satisfied. Then she immediately decided the time to sign the contract.
Ashley thought it was really worth settling down in the Azure Building at this price.
"Okay, that's it."
"Well, we will inform you after we draw up the contract. You can just take the money with you."
"Okay."
Walking out of the Azure Building, Ashley found that it was very close to the Lucas group's office. What a coincidence.
She curled her lips. It was just a coincidence that she could take a piece of this office building.
She hesitated for a while and called him when she thought of his help these days.
"Ashley, what can I do for you?"
Lucas was very happy to answer her call. He tried his best to restrain his excitement, but the smile on his face couldn't be suppressed anymore. Martin was very observant and waited for him to finish the phone call.
"Well, nothing important. I just want to share with you. I found the Azure Building and it's not far from the Lucas group. I have got that office, fortunately. So I want to celebrate. Are you free? I'll treat you to dinner."
"Okay, where are you? I'm here for you."
"I'm at the gate of the Azure Building."
"Wait for me there. I'll come."
"What about your work."
Lucas hung up the phone before she finished her words. Martin was reporting the rest of today's schedule to him. Seeing that he was in such a hurry to go out, he knew the schedule had to be postponed.
"I'll leave the meeting at eleven o'clock to Mr. Lin. I have something to deal with."
Fortunately, it was not a very important meeting, so Martin hurried to arrange it.
In less than ten minutes, Lucas stopped the car at the gate of the Azure Building. Ashley was waiting for him. Seeing she wear little clothes, he took off his suit and put it on her.
"It's cold outside. Get in the car."
"Here you are." Said Ashley with a smile.
"Where are we going?"
Ashley sat on the passenger seat and took out her phone. It was the restaurant she had just chosen.
"Let's go to eat Japanese food. I haven't eaten for a long time."
Ashley knew she couldn't get pregnant in the past but still held hope in her heart. So she paid much attention to her diet and didn't eat any Japanese food. Now she had no scruples, she naturally couldn't compromise her appetite.
"It's up to you."
Lucas drove to the restaurant she had decided. They entered the restaurant side by side. Ashley had booked a table on the way.
Before the waiter asked her, she took out the screenshot and said, "Two people. We have ordered."
"Okay, please follow me." The waiter gestured them to go to the semi-closed room.
It was a typical Japanese style. They sat cross-legged on the tatami face to face.
"Please have tea first. The dishes will be served soon."
"Okay."
The tea was still hot. Ashley warmed her hands and took a sip. It was really good.
About five or six minutes later, the fresh salmon and some other sashimis were served. Ashley rubbed her hands.
"I haven't eaten for a long time."
"Then eat more today." His face was full of affection and took her the food.
"Thank you."
She couldn't wait to have a taste. It was so delicious that she hadn't tasted it for a long time. It was a wonderful tasting alternative!
"It's my treat today. Don't be shy."
Lucas couldn't help laughing. Seeing her eating happily, he also began to eat.
But less than a quarter of an hour later, Ashley suddenly covered her stomach and put down her chopsticks. Her face turned pale because of the pain.
He was startled and hurried to hold her. "What's wrong? Where does it hurt?"
"Maybe it's because I haven't eaten Japanese food for a long time that my stomach doesn't adapt."
Lucas' face was gloomy. He didn't have time to get even with this restaurant's boss. He picked up Ashley and went to the hospital.
Hospital.
"You are pregnant."
After the examination, the doctor's calm words exploded in her mind. Ashley thought she had misheard, and Lucas was even more stunned.
"Doctor, what did you say?"
The doctor became impatient after seeing their reaction. "If you don't want the baby, you can have an abortion. The fetus is less than three months old, and it won't be so painful."
"No, you said... You said I was pregnant?"
Ashley's lips began to tremble.
