(Sorry wasn't able to upload was busy with school works and buying books for the new session that has started)
A new day had arrived. The eyes of a young girl fluttered open slowly, revealing a delicate face framed by blonde hair. Confusion etched her features as she sat up and looked around the room. It was unlike any dorm she had seen before - large, with only one bed and a mystical-looking lantern that cast a blue glow over the mist floating on the floor. Small particles seemed to gather around the lantern before flowing down into the mist. On the table, a laptop hummed softly amid a clutter of electronics and cables.
A light breeze brushed against her bare skin from the window, and she looked down to see that her clothes were unbuttoned, revealing her smooth, silky, pale skin. A light headache throbbed in her temples as she remembered what happened the previous night. She blushed, remembering the strange sound she had made, and her hand instinctively went to her neck.
As she did, the door opened, revealing Rayne holding a food packet from the canteen in one hand and a plastic cup with a red-colored liquid in the other. They looked at each other for a moment before Rayne's system began to play background music that only he could hear.
Well, he looks at me,
and I look at him,
and he looks at me,
and I look at him,
and he looks at me,
and I look at him
"I'm sorry about what happened last night," Rayne began to say.
Before he could finish, Erin threw a pillow in his direction, but it missed and landed near his feet. An awkward silence filled the room as Erin's face grew warmer. She used her ice ability to freeze Rayne in place, but he managed to save the food and drink he had brought.
"Sigh, I guess it's only a natural reaction after what happened last night, but hey, I bought food for you," Rayne said.
Erin's eyes trailed to the food packet, causing her stomach to growl. She stood up, but her legs felt weak, and she stumbled, falling face-first on the floor. She quickly stood up, but wobbled again, finally steadying herself with a chair. She glared at Rayne.
Slowly, she made her way towards him, using the chair for support and panting slightly. After reaching him, she snatched the food and made her way to the bed. There, she sat down and relaxed a little before opening the food packet and beginning to eat.
"Hey, did you drink water after waking up? If not, I would recommend you do so. After all, you lost a lot of blood yesterday," Rayne said.
Erin glared at him and grabbed the bottle of water on the nightstand, taking a sip. She then looked at the cup of red liquid on the table.
"Is this blood?" she asked, pointing to it.
"No, it's plain pomegranate juice," Rayne replied with a sigh.
"Oh!" Erin said.
As she finished eating and took a sip of her juice, Rayne said, "I guess we're on good terms now. I can exit this," as he effortlessly broke free from the ice. Erin became alert and on edge, before she eventually dropped her guard upon realizing that Rayne had no intention of causing harm.
"So what?" Rayne said, followed by an awkward silence. Not wanting things to become more awkward, he decided to speak up. However, before he could say anything, Erin interrupted him, "What is this? Are you trying to create some kind of portal?" She leaned over the table, examining the blueprint undergoing virtual simulation on the laptop. Rayne couldn't help but notice how the undone dress on Erin emphasized her curves, and how gravity was doing its miraculous work. His face turned as red as a ripe tomato. Rayne had never been especially this close to any women in his previous life, nor had he ever encountered something like this although he was the one responsible. Even his first time in the nightmare realm was done with his body being possessed. Before reincarnating, he couldn't even talk properly to women and always avoided them. His only female interactions were with his teachers, mother, and sister. The reason for this was the trauma he experienced during his childhood. In class 4, during an examination, two girls asked him to give them the answers, but he refused. Like every honest kid his age, he suffered the consequences of his refusal when those two students beat him up. Being weak, he was unable to defend himself. The next incident occurred when he was in class 12. During that time, he started to open up to the other students after spending the majority of his school years not speaking and being an introvert. However, this only acted as a catalyst as girls started to flock around him, asking him various things. He usually answered awkwardly, but the major event happened on April 10 at 2:30 pm. He witnessed one of his classmates, who was super handsome, get kidnapped by a group of five girls. They dragged him to the girls' bathroom, and later, when the recess break finished, he came to class with his clothes disheveled and wet. Looking at his face, it seemed like his life was sucked out of him. He was walking all wobbly, and one of his friends helped him to his seat before handing him a water bottle. In general, the guy looked traumatized, and all the students of their class looked at him with pity, even the female ones. This event fueled Rayne's fear of women more, leading him to focus only on his studies and cut ties with all his friends, especially his only female friend, Samantha Oak. However, after reincarnating, something changed. He was able to talk and interact with women normally. Now, back to the situation that was happening
"Ah y-ws," Rayne stuttered, causing Erin to raise her eyebrows. She looked down and quickly buttoned up her clothes when Rayne motioned to her that her top was unbuttoned. "So, will you tell me why you're building a portable portal?" Erin questioned.
"Well, it's just a side project," Rayne lied. Of course, he couldn't tell her that there were other vampires present and that he was currently replicating one of the portals he had seen on their planet using his qi to scan the inner structure without disassembling it and then using his system to compute the result and create a 3D blueprint of it.
"But I sense that there's something more," Erin said, but suddenly got lightheaded and fell. Rayne swiftly moved to her side and caught her. "I think we should go to the doctor's office," Rayne said, to which Erin weakly nodded.
Without a word, he carried her in a princess carry, causing her to yelp, and opened the door to exit the dorm room. As they walked down the hallway, it was empty with only a few students roaming around. After the expedition, the school had announced a two-day leave, so most of the students were probably outside in the city near the school.
On their way to the doctor's office, some students near the boys' dorm room were shocked to see Erin and Rayne exiting together from his dorm room, with Rayne carrying her like that. The group of male and female students started to speculate about what had happened.
Upon reaching the doctor's office, Erin lightly hit Rayne and motioned for him to put her down. Rayne gently placed her on her feet and started to massage his hand before saying, "How can you be so heavy?" Erin glared at him before entering the doctor's office, with Rayne following her.
Inside, Hayley was playing a mobile game called Candy Crush to pass the time. Even after the invasion of Dalki, it seemed as though Candy Crush had somehow survived. It was as if the game had been granted the boon of immortality. Hayley noticed their presence as they entered, something rare after the war.
"Hey, Rayne! How are you now?" Hayley asked.
"Uh, I'm fine, I guess," Rayne replied.
She then turned towards Erin and asked, "What's the problem?"
"I'm feeling weak for some reason," Erin said, half-lying, while glaring at Rayne, who quickly averted his eyes.
Seeing the interaction between them, Hayley could only smirk and then said, "Hey, you look tired. Mind telling me what happened?" She directed Erin to lie down on one of the beds.
"Nothing much, just a rough night," Rayne said.
As Rayne went to follow Erin, Hayley obstructed him and denied him entry before drawing the curtains.
'Sigh, what should I do? I can't waste any more of my time. I still need to buy so many things to make a weapon or a gun that could one-shot kill Dalki easily,' Rayne thought, but still decided to wait until Erin was cured.
Meanwhile, Hayley had asked Erin to remove her upper garment so she could examine her properly. As she was examining her, she noticed a red mark just above Erin's collarbone that looked like a hickey. She completely ignored it and went on with examining her. After finishing the examination, she said, "You are currently suffering from anemia, but I don't know if I can heal you. The guy standing outside was also suffering from it, and I couldn't heal him. But I'll try."
Hayley used her healing ability on Erin, and her body started to revitalize. The hickey-like mark also disappeared.
After finishing her healing, Hayley asked, "How are you feeling now?"
"Better than before," Erin said, moving her arms around. She then stood up and bowed to Hayley, thanking her for her help.
After that, Hayley removed the curtain, and she once again saw Rayne going through her belongings and reading a paper about new research that the military was doing.
As Rayne noticed her, he quickly closed the file and said bye to her before exiting with Erin. But as he was exiting, Hayley whispered something into his ear, causing his ears to heat up, and he looked at Hayley with disbelief in his eyes as she smiled cheekily.
"It's not what you think," Rayne said, trying to clarify the misunderstanding.
"I know, young people these days are so racy, maturing so early. But remember to always use protection," Hayley said, handing him something and then pushing him out of the room.
Rayne was stunned as he looked at what she had given him.
"What did she say to you, and what is that?" Erin asked as she leaned forward.
Seeing her lean forward, he quickly tried to hide it in his pocket, but it slipped out of his hand. Erin swiftly grabbed it and looked at it before her face turned a shade of crimson.
"Ahem, you can keep this. I think we should part ways," Erin said, making her way opposite to the direction she came from, with no real destination in mind.
"This might as well be the most awkward and embarrassing moment of my three lives combined," Rayne said while pulling on his hair as he quickly stored it in his inventory.
"But wait a minute, why did she even have one? I don't think every other doctor has one. As a doctor in my previous life, I didn't happen to have one just lying around," Rayne thought as he made his way towards his room.
As he entered the room, he noticed that Erin's scent was still present. He didn't bother with it and went to sit down, working on his laptop and ordering things that he might need from his to-do list.
Meanwhile, Erin had ventured to the library to gather more information about vampires in case she needed it in the future. She went down the non-fiction aisle first to see if there was anything she could find, but there was nothing. There were no books on vampires, and there didn't seem to be anything remotely related to them either. If it wasn't in any of the official records, it was slowly starting to make sense to her why everyone wanted her to keep it a secret.
This left her with no choice but to head to the fiction section, and almost instantly, she found several novels about vampires. But just from looking at the covers, she found it really hard to tell what vampires were.
"Vampire: The Last Blood,"
"Bite Me or Love Me,"
"Thicker Than Blood"
Some of the covers even had men in suggestive poses, while others deemed vampires as vicious killers. But the one thing they all had in common was the theme around blood. Erin decided to just pick up one of the books at random and chose "Bite Me or Love Me," although the logical approach would have been to pick up "Vampire: The Last Blood" but who could say that to her (considering that this is a reference to "Blood +" and "Blood: The Last Vampire" movie. Hey, do you think that this was JKS manga foreshadowing about the last volume, Volume 8: The Last Vampire? )
She stood there in the aisle and started reading it, but before she knew it, she couldn't put the book down. "My word, what are they doing?" Just from reading the novel, her face started to go red. But then she remembered what had happened the previous night, her situation was also quite similar to what was currently happening in the book. Just imagining what more could have happened caused her to blush like crazy.
"So, you're interested in vampires, huh?" A boy's voice said, coming from her left side. As she turned her head to see who it was, she saw a student she hadn't come across before, or maybe she had. Erin had a bad habit of only remembering people she cared about. But when she looked at this boy, she had a feeling that if she had seen him before, she would have remembered him, as something was pulling her towards him. But the next moment that feeling was gone.
"I didn't expect to see a beautiful girl like you here," the boy said as he swept back his black hair. "The name's Fex. Nice to meet you."
Standing in the fantasy section of the library was Erin and a strange boy known as Fex. Erin was still holding a vampire love story in her hand, and her face had gone bright red. She couldn't believe someone had just caught her reading such a book. She thought, "What is wrong with the world? It is as if it wants to embarrass me to death. From yesterday, only intimate things are happening to me, first with Rayne, then with the doctor as she gave that box to Rayne, and now once again, a randomly picked book describing intimate scenes in such a weird way, and now this boy seeing me read such a thing. Although it seems that the boy has some idea of what the book was, that is not the problem. The problem is how should he be dealt with? I think a threat will be enough."
Quickly, Erin put the book back where it was placed to avoid any further embarrassment and started walking towards the boy. As Fex saw her walking towards him, he started to lick his lips. "What a tasty-looking person," Fex thought. "Looks like most of the human minds in this school are pretty weak."
Erin continued walking forward with her head down, and when she was finally close enough, she halted her steps. Fex started to smile but then frowned as he noticed a strange smell coming from her body. He ignored it and focused on what was in front of him. "Now, why don't you lift your head so I can take another look at your pretty face?" Fex said.
Erin lifted her head and dashed forward in an instant with an ice sword forming in her right hand. Using her forearm, she pushed Fex up against the wall by his neck. The area started to freeze, and now an ice sword was pointed right at his throat. "If you tell anyone about what you saw today, you're dead, you hear me?" Erin said.
"What's with this girl? How can you just attack someone like that?" Fex cried.
Erin proceeded to slowly freeze both of his hands to the wall as well as make sure that he couldn't retaliate. Gradually, the ice from Erin's forearm was starting to spread and was freezing Fex's neck as well. "Look, I don't want to cause any trouble," he said.
Erin looked at him carefully, noticing all the features that he had. "Good, I will remember you, and if anyone finds out about what you saw today, I'll be coming back for you," Erin said as she took away the ice sword. She then started her exit, leaving Fex in this sticky situation, frozen to the wall with the ice still confining his body. "Wait!" he shouted. "Aren't you going to let me go?"
Erin continued to walk off towards the centre of the library. Without turning back, she said, "It's just a little reminder of what can happen if you don't listen, and the next time I would freeze you, with you slowly dying due to lack of oxygen, a very slow death, and I promise that I will give you that."
Eventually, Erin had left the library. The other people who were nearby went to look at the commotion down the aisle, wondering what was going on. However, all they could see was a single man stuck up against the wall. A few laughed and giggled as it wasn't the first time they had seen something like this. After all, few of the braver boys among the first-year students had tried to confess their "love" to Erin.
But she hated it when people would waste her time. They would always ask to meet in a quiet or secret place, and Erin would always think that it was for a matter of importance to her, yet it was the same every time. They would confess their "love" for Erin and ask her out on a date. The usual reply she would give was to stick these love interests to the wall, in their own eyes. She would often leave them there frozen in place while waiting for the ice to melt. She did this as a warning for other suitors in the future. Slowly, people started to get the message and stopped approaching her, so it had been a while since the other students had seen such a thing.
After that, most of the students continued with what they were doing, going back to reading books or chatting away in the library.
While no one was looking, Fex used his strength to break free both of his arms from the ice. He then used his hands to crack the ice that was around his neck as well.
"Looks like someone was able to resist my charm already?" Fex said. "Well, now that just makes me want to go after her more. But now I remember, why did that scent smell so familiar? It was the smell of a vampire. But why was there the scent of a vampire on her, and why is there a vampire here in the first place? This seems quiet odd. Well I think we will meet soon, ice girl."
After leaving the library, Fex had no idea what to do. He decided that he would just have to go to his dorm room. While walking down the hallway towards the staircase, a student ran past him. As this student passed him, he caught a whiff of a scent with his nose, and a familiar smell registered in his mind.
He recognized it in an instant. As he had smelled something familiar like this a few minutes ago, it was the smell of another vampire, but not the same vampire. He came to this conclusion and turned around to catch him, but he was late. The student was already gone.
"Now, this is getting more interesting. Two vampires in one place. I wonder what family they belong to. Although I am no tracker, I know that the smell is different. So, there are two vampires, but what are they doing at this base?" Fex thought.
