Chapitre 36: Pick the Date

[Justin's Diary at Senior Grade]

For about five minutes I waited with my back against the body of my car, playing with my cell phone. A clatter from Mandy's door snapped my attention, made my eyes dart forward, and I reflexively pulled my body from the backrest, flabbergasted at Mandy's enchanting appearance. She walked over to me with a smirk plastered on her face. My eyes moved to scan her appearance from head to toe. Her hair was left loose with a silver headband pinned to it. A purple dress above the knee with sheer straps is a great choice for her size. Also the matching flat shoes. In my heart, I sing praises. She has a beautiful aura, but why not want to show it?

I greeted her with a small smile. She seemed embarrassed to meet me. As I could see from here, she tucked her hair behind her ear, or rubbed the back of her neck. Once in front of me, I glanced again at the outfits she was wearing while tilting my head to one side, giving an appraising look.

"You look pretty," I said genuinely. Mandy widened her eyes, opened her mouth in amazement. Her cheeks look flushed. Seeing her expression made me ticklish. Somehow, in my opinion, she was very funny.

"You too," she replied with a small smile. It made her look even more charming.

"I want to meet your mother."

Mandy's eyes widened. Her lips twitched as she struggled to utter a reply. From her movements, she seemed nervous to answer my sentence. "W-what? For what?"

"To ask permission, of course. I can't take people's children away without permission, can I?"

Mandy grimaced, looking at me like she was staring at a gem. She rubbed the nape of her neck with her palm once more, then pointed inside the house, "My mother isn't here. She… still has a lot of work to do. My house is deserted, leaving only Candice and Steve."

I nodded. "All right then, let's go." I opened the car door wide, letting her in. Mandy's smile reappeared at the corners of her lips as she got inside and sat in the driver's seat. I circled the hood to get to the other side of the car, then opened the door and sat in front of the steering wheel. I turned my attention to the side for a moment, watching Mandy closely. To be honest, she didn't—in fact, it could even be said to be very, very far away—into the criteria of a girl I liked. But… there was a part of her that was different from most of the other girls around me. Something I'd never found. She liked me but didn't show herself in front of me. Unlike most other girls.

I started the car leaving the yard. At least, after Daisy broke up, I had friends who might cheer me up. I need someone who can cheer me up. And I think Mandy is the right person. She was too good for me. I shouldn't have spoken harshly, even hurt her, like that time.
