“Do you think we freaked her out?”

“If us telling her she’s our mate didn’t freak her out,” I began to respond to my brother, “your dumb*ss comments definitely did.”

“What?” He asked me as he turned to me, “what did I say?” I glowered at Hayden as I got back into the car and buckled in.

“’ You smell like love,’” I imitated in a fake voice, trying my best to match Hayden’s deeper tone. “Are you stupid or just dumb?” I turned to him, bewildered at the things he thinks he can say out loud to normal people.

“Say what you want,” he smirked over at me. “She didn’t seem to mind all that much, from what I could tell.” There was a rumble of appreciation from him, and I had no doubt in my mind as to what exactly he was thinking about.
