Chapitre 16: SOUL SUMMON II

"Adelle? What's the matter? is there something wrong?" Leo asks and I shake my head. I smiled at him

*knock* *knock*

"What's the matter?" Annah asks while walking towards the door. she slightly opens the door

My eyes widened when I saw Jack. he looked upset and I followed by looking at the door slowly closing. he didn't look my way. something must be happening. he really looks upset. It seems that they're all busy. I shift my gaze at Leo. and this Mother F*cker, is just lying around. I rushed toward the door to look for Jack but I was startled when the door suddenly opened.

"Adelle, where are you going?" Annah asked when she saw me in front of the door. I took a glance outside to see if Jack was still there. but I see no one.

"Nothing," I said and sat down.

"Okay. do you want tea?" she asked nicely and I nodded.

"Yes, please"

She asks for her servant to prepare tea for us. She looks at Leo seriously. "Elijah, just left the city a while ago, maybe you passed each other on the road earlier," Annah said

Left? left to go where?

"Really? I didn't see him." Leo said while he sipped the hot tea.

How are you able to see him? In the carriage, you snore most of the time. Wait. is he on 'that' carriage? the one I saw earlier. the carriage for the envoy.

"You don't know anything, the meeting we had 8 days ago was about the neighboring Kingdom, King Nicolas suspected the Kingdom of Equinox was behind the sudden appearance of the hordes in the south and eastern border, so the King sent the captain to be an envoy and spy the Kingdom," Annah explained.

What? spy on the Kingdom? Are we about to go to war?

Wait, Kingdom of Equinox and Solstice are on good terms, Why do we need to spy on them?

Why is Eli on his own?

Why did he not take any of these people in front of me?

Why he didn't seek help from Jack?

If this country is a possible threat to Equinox. Their life is in danger.

Is he trying to die?

If he dies, I'll kill him by myself.

"Why is the captain alone? we could have been a better aid instead of your apprentice and the other knights." Leo said.

"I know, Jack keeps insisting on coming along, but he didn't also allow Jack to come with him, and he is extremely angry about that. He also seeks my apprentice to go with him to the southern border," Annah stated as she sipped her tea.

"I'm concerned something horrible may happen to the captain while he's in the other Kingdom; he's constantly keeping himself busy, and he doesn't take care of himself," Annah stated.

"They didn't want to rest their asses since Yule died," Leo explained.

"I discovered the captain sleeping in his office one day, and I didn't want to wake him up, so I just lay my report on his desk, and I wince because I can hear his voice calling Yule in his sleep, and tears are pouring nonstop in his eyes," Annah explained as she drank her tea. "Also, Jack, when I pass through his office, I hear some of the voices and I think something is wrong, so I eavesdrop. I can hear his sob and calling Yule's name and I heard the words 'Come back, please.' it's so heartbreaking to see, even after 11 years. they really can't forget. both of them have never smiled or laughed since then."

Hearing this made my heart heavy...it's hurting me deep inside.

Eli and Jack, I'm sure that was heartbreaking for both of you. I can't handle the prospect of losing both of you after we lost Mona. So, I'll go to any extent to be there for them and make sure they're safe. I can't imagine how they felt when they realized they'd also lost me; they'd lost two of their friends. it must have been a horrible event for both of you to realize you'd lost two of your greatest friends. I'm sorry...Eli and Jack.

"Anyway, Leo. Captain instructed you to guard the east because hordes are suddenly gathering there; it would be best if you departed this week, and Adelle may stay here if she chooses," Annah said, winking at me. I gave her an odd smile.

"I'll go this week with my subordinates, but Adelle cannot stay here since the Marquess would not allow it," Leo remarked as he rose. He grasped my arm and said, "We'll depart now, thanks for your help."

"No need, I didn't get to repair your problem, but Adelle, if you're going to get hurt, I'm here," Annah remarked and waved at us.

"I'll defend her," Leo responded defensively to Annah, smiling at me.

~~~~~~~Noble house of Larmaleilles~~~~~~
"Adelle, welcome home," the Marquess says as he greets me at Larmaleilles. It is larger than the villa in Eudaimonia City. What a luxurious life is waiting for me, No. I have to solve my problem first. And it's start in this mansion.
"Welcome home, Milady," one of the maids says as I enter the house. There is a lady who has emerged. She examined me from head to toe with an indescribable expression on her face.
"Welcome back, Adelle," she muttered coldly, and I simply stared at her. When she stared at me, I knew there was something wrong with her; who could she be? Adelle's mother died three years ago, as I recall. Maybe she's the head servant.
"Thank you, but who are you? Are you possibly a housekeeper?" I ask frankly, and she responds furiously. Could I be mistaken?
"Excuse me!? Adelle wha--" The Marquess didn't let her finish.
"Melissa, Adelle is fatigued after the long voyage; let her rest and I'll tell you what's going on," stated the Marquess. "Kaniz, show her to her room so she may relax," Marquess remarked, and Kaniz nodded. As I entered the home, I looked at the Lady, who fixed her focus on me. I walked inside, giving her a chilly stare.
When I walk into my room, I ask Kaniz who she is. I can see the trembling sight on Kaniz's face. "Milady, Mistress Melissa is the madam of this home; she married the Marquess two years ago," she explained.
What? What happened two years ago? So, it's barely been a year since Adelle's mother died, and the Marquess has forgotten about Rina and married again? What a loving father.
"Oh, is that so," I murmured, and Kaniz assisted me in taking off my dress before I ordered her to leave the room. The Marquess is right, I'm completely fatigued. It's been a long week. I closed my eyes and slept out.
