Chapitre 10: 10. Training Montage
"I want to see your growth after you have been using so much magic" declared Loki. Currently Marlet was laying in her new bed on her stomach and her wings spread, finding this to be her most comfortable relaxing position. Enough space for her to relax and her wings weight to not be carried by her back muscles. So then why was Loki snuggled up against her under one of her wings? The trickster goddess only replied with two words, "Comfy" and "Warm" making Marlet groan but not denying the goddess, even sometimes shifting to make it more comfy for her under the pretence of stiff muscles. "Sure, I don't see why not" came her reply but the goddess didn't make a single move. "You know, shouldn't you be dropping a bit of your divine blood on my back, oh mighty goddess?" Marlet wanted to tease Loki a little but she was having non of it. "This mighty goddess had already saved you more than a few times" Loki yawned, "cut her some slack" and proceeded to snuggle closer to Marlet.
Just as Loki was about to nod off again they both could hear Riveria's voice calling out for her. Realising the elf was bringing more work for her Loki jumped out from under Marlet and landed on her back, taking out the dagger in one swift motion. If Marlet didn't know what it was for she would think Loki had just become the greatest assassin of all time. Hearing Riveria's steps coming into her bedroom and pause Loki put on her most magnanimous expression ever and spoke as though this was planned 10 years in advance and that Riveria is currently being rude, "now let's see how much you have grown and where to improve." Riveria only cast a glance at what was happening gave a sigh and a small smile saying she would return after lunch and left the two alone. "You really are the goddess of tricks" Marlet could only say with a deadpan expression on her face. "You speak as though I was deceiving her?!?" Loki cried in fake outrage before clasping her heart. This interaction only lasted for a few seconds before they both broke down into laughter. Loki recovered herself first and steadied herself, then pricked her finger and updated Marlet's falna. Feeling the sensation on her back she also calmed down a lot and allowed Loki to do her thing.

Handing Marnet the sheet showing her growth she gained an odd expression. Loki noticing this slapped her on top of her head, chastising her "what did you think was gonna happen? You reach S rank after growing a tree?" seeing the cute girl before her pout at her comment Loki looked at her as if she was stupid. "Look here little girl" Loki had a series expression on her face "I don't want to see you making a face like that again. It means that you expect this great reward for you doing almost nothing. This already insults all the other adventurers doing their best and risking their lives in the dungeon. Do I make myself clear?" seeing Marlet going over what she said and understanding what she was talking about Loki said in a more gentle tone, "besides, I'm not saying you didn't work hard either. It's just your curse acting up is all. Look at it this way, since you received my falna you have only used your magic, correct?" Loki only got a nod in approval. "Then it's fair to say that your stats should in actuality still all be 0 besides your magic which going by the numbers should be 190. A whole rank up" Loki comforted the girl.
"If you really want to get stronger and level up then I would suggest you train a little first, you said you wanted to be mainly an archer, right?" Loki finally asked only to get another nod from the girl she was already making her way back under her wing for some warmth. "Then I'll ask Finn to set up a range and get a bow with some arrows for you to use" finished Loki with a smile on her face, "plus, they should be coming back from their middle floor expedition and we can start selling the enchanted weapons" saying that Marlet remembered something and looked at Loki a little guiltily. Frowning at the girl's expression Loki looked into her eyes and just gave a "what?" Marlet noticed the flat tone of her voice as though she expected something ridiculous again and only sighed. "It's 2 things actually, the first is that I have been practicing with my Inventory or 'space magic' as you put it. I noticed that if I know it's in there I am able to summon it up, it's only when I meditate that I get a list of sorts in my mind what's there. This means if I know for a fact it's there, it's quick access" Marlet had a proud expression on her face. "That's definitely good news, what's the next one?" Loki was happy with this development because it meant more gear on expeditions once she begins adventuring. "The second is that I can also enchant armour, but these may end up permanent. I havnt tested it out yet?" Marlet more asked than stated. This however made Loki's slit like eyes open a little allowing Marlet to see the colour of her eyes for a brief second.
Having spoken to Finn about the type of training Marlet was to go through it was decided that she would work on her archery in the mornings to improve as much as possible. From there they would have lunch, after that any of the executives would spar and teach Marlet some close combat techniques in the case she need a enamy came in close to her. After dinners she would cast as much magic as possible in the hopes she may learn to heal others or she would spend it enchanting some blades for the familia to use. She's refrained from enchanting armour on Loki's request so that they may 'release' the new possibilities to the general public and have an even larger increase in profits. On the weekends she would practice her flying and manoeuvres that could come up, it was also pointed out by Tione that she had 2 more appendages that she should incorporate into her fighting style especially if she ended up in an enclosed space. Everyone agreed with this much Marlet's grief as the training after that comment only intensified and Toine received an extremely sour sweet in the form of her favourite sweet bun which caused her to make a funny face and the winged devil sitting opposite her to laugh at the entire ordeal. With this system set in place Marlet fell into a stable routine that allowed her to adapt to her new skills. Most notably was her archery, her skill with a bow became very precise and she practiced the speed at which she could pull an arrow from her quiver. Later on she started flying and shooting at targets as she flew by, taking inspiration from the archers on horseback from her past life. Marlet had opted to train her healing whilst training close quarters with her friends but Aiz would always adopt this serious air around her that made the others a little nervous, thus they removed her as a teacher and used her more as a test after a period of time. Marlet opted to use a one handed axe when things seemed to come really close, her reasoning was that if she couldn't shoot with an arrow and they passed her magic's range the person would probably already be right in front of her and for situations like that she preferred an axe plus she surprised a few of her sparring partners when she shouted an unrelenting force at them. It was just the first word of power though.
Marlet also wrote down the possible enchantments she could put on a weapon and gave it to Loki to handle. Loki actually asked her to give her one of the enchanted daggers made with a Minotaur stone and Marlet not minding her goddess's schemes obliged. The next day Loki went to go see a good friend to her familia, Hephaestus herself. It was a few hours before Loki returned with a smirk, an official contract with the Hephaestus familia and Tsubaki in tow, oddly she didn't have the dagger anymore. Loki had explained the circumstances of the hedge and massive tree in their backyard to Tsubaki and to say she was surprised and a little sceptical was an understatement. Walking into the corridor that connected to Marlet's 'room' Tsubaki noticed that it was a lot more green here with plants and flowers being everywhere. Loki asked her to wait whilst she fetched her most 'interesting child' as she had been describing Marlet all this time. When Loki returned with a girl that had wings and horns Tsubaki was stumped and couldn't form words to respond, the same could be said for Marlet though as she was eye level with the blacksmith's chest. Loki heard an audible gulp from her child and couldn't help but laugh and comment "I know, she packs quiet the punch." This broke Tsubaki out of her stupor and barraged Marlet with a wide range of questions, both goddess and fey gave her the watered down version of who she was and her capabilities. This was done because she had already signed a contract to keep the secrets revealed under the watch of two goddesses as well as she would need to craft special armour because of Marlet's unique physiology. "I want you to sign me as your personal smith" Tsubaki all but demanded. Loki rubbed her chin and decided to intervene knowing what Marlet was capable of, "we can do that but when the times allow we would like you to impart some wisdom to her as well, non of your secrets mind you, just some basics of smithing is all we ask for. The rest can be the standard contract." To say Tsubaki was surprised and a little excited would be an understatement, first she got to be the only smith that would be allowed to craft unique armours that would become famous regardless of how powerful the girl in front of her became but also in the future should she also forge anything, her roots can also be tied to her. She immediately agreed.
Having showed Tsubaki the enchanting process and making it clear that she was the only one capable of doing the job Tsubaki made an off-hand comment, "so what's the story with the Fool's Tree in your backyard?" This question confused Marlet because this was the first time she had heard her room be called that, Loki however had a massive black tick mark form on her forehead because she knew the reason behind naming it that. Tsubaki seeing this couldn't help but laugh with her hand before her mouth but stopped at that, this prompted Marlet to invite her into her room and greatly surprised the blacksmith with the complexity of the designs that went into the interior.
Marlet got into a comfortable routine for the next 2 months in this manor, either training in weapons or flight, with the Hephaestus familia sending some of their best blades to be enchanted by her every beginning of the week and middle of the week. With the uproar of the new magic coated weapons dying down and all the executives satisfied with Marlet's competency with her weapons and magic saying that all she required now was experience and excelia to build upon what she has. "Finally, I get to start my own adventure" Marlet spoke to herself whilst looking over Orario.

Super_Surprised231 These laat few chapters are me setting up for later in the story, I don’t want to be a ‘oh, by the way’ author. I actually want my readers to understand where the small changes come from and why.
With that said, I also don’t want to have a traditional system as I’m sure you may have noticed. Yes it does make her OP but it will take time. I want her falna to compliment her system and fill some gaps not have the system override the blessing of the gods and she can do whatever she wants.
