Upon hearing Charlotte Cooper's words, Henry Russell stopped talking and walked over with the torch in hand. He walked to Charlotte's side, putting one arm around her shoulder.
"It's alright now, I'm here with you, and I won't let them hurt you," Henry said confidently.
Charlotte nodded, wiped her tears, and hugged Henry's waist, which made her feel even safer. "I know, we'll definitely be able to get out of here safely."
They thought the sight of the torch would scare the wolves away, but the wolves only hesitated for a moment when they saw it. As if the torch hadn't worked at all, the wolves continued to stare at them menacingly, as if ready to pounce on them for revenge.
"What's going on? Doesn't it work?" Charlotte started to panic.
They had thought it would be effective, but now it seemed to have no effect. It was the only method they could think of, and now that it didn't work, they were doomed.
