Chapitre 24: Chapter 12-1: The Dark Clouds

"Well. It’s okay” “Come on… I’ll help you!” He said, and then he walked towards her.

Looking at his serious and unsurprised expression, she obediently raised her hand and adjusted to him.

In the end, he took the initiative to give her a bath.

When she raised her head and entered the tub, the height difference between them was obvious.

Returning to the first bright shots of the morning, the night has swept over its space, revealing the stars and the moon.

When she returned to wearing her elegant loose pajamas, and braided strands of her short hair, she looked like a perfect porcelain princess for someone's hobby.

Looking at it, the atmosphere was silent and monotonous as usual. Upon closer inspection, she seemed to be a prisoner in a birdcage and alone.

As soon as the clock hit seven, she went to sleep.

'Under the high humidity of the narrow room.

Amidst the clear whiffs of the dense fog of rising vapors

And the showers of water dripping lightly without leaking from the basin.

Her mature body relaxed, enjoying the warmth'

As soon as her eyelids parted for the second time and revealed a clear and bright sky, she let out a sigh of relief.

The memories from her past life that she was newly recalled were disturbing.

Without wasting any more time, she immediately straightened up, changed into her other clothes, and left.

In contrast, Leon sat on the black sofa in the living room with Nam Shin, who was working on his laptop after receiving a call.

In the kitchen, she pulled out her reserved dishes and put them in the microwave, then slowly ate her food next to them while peeking.

“What’s wrong. Can I help?” She tilted her head slightly towards the computer, asking in a measured tone.

Looking at the map and profile, she couldn't help but shiver.

“No…” Leon denied curtly.

He was exasperated. Dennis had obviously done this to him on purpose.

Caroline, who raised an eyebrow but didn’t care, leaned her hand towards the location and nonchalantly pointed.

“Cadres owns a private residence on the outskirts of Ireland”

“It’s 50 kilometers away from the villages and the central city. In the heart of the farm, surrounded by a thick, shady hedge of trees”

“He usually moves there for rest, I don’t know much”

'I don’t know much?'

'This was like picking a needle in a pile of ocean'

Given the series of houses he owned for comfort, this was the closest she could think of.

In a village that could have been considered a small, camouflaged settlement with radar jammers. Life there was actually normal!!

Since the technology the Peller girls had created was unimaginable to the world and more modern and complicated.

It was more reasonable that no matter how hard they tried, they would never be able to penetrate it, unless they were allowed to from the inside.

Nam Shin and Leon who looked at her blankly in surprise, forgot for a moment who she was and what her identity was.

“I don't really remember, it was just a mutation” she wet her lips with misleading justification, avoiding their gaze.

“Got it!”

Nam Shin didn’t complicate it too much, while Leon just nodded in understanding and stroked her hair with a soft look amidst affection.

“Thank you” he complimented.

Upon closer inspection, Skyler’s report on her was more credible and believable. So simply put, they both didn't suspect.

“It’s getting late, go to sleep and rest now” Nam Shin smiled, urging her from the side, hinting.

“Okay. “I will read” she exclaimed stubbornly, pulling the little black with her and moving.

When she straightened up, she gave them a more casual, expressionless look and then turned back into the room.

Inside, she wiped her face in frustration and sighed.

‘That was too much’

//6:45 PM//

When back in the living room, Leon sent his report without involving Caroline in the matter.

After some time, his torso relaxed on the sofa, massaging the knot between his eyebrows and sighing.

“Do you think she’s starting to remember something?” Nam Shin, who spat out his words in exciting ambiguity, glanced between him and her room door with a serious expression and whispered.

“Well. It’s been two years already, is that possible? How would she even know!”

“…Impossible” Leon, who couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, muttered a firm denial.

“Don’t you find it a bit strange too?” Nam Shin, leaned closer to him, then expressed doubtful stubbornness.

“Logically speaking, would it be reasonable for no one to know what happened to them or even their identities once we catch them?” Leon gave him an indifferent glance, then commented.

“...In that year, none of the children and teenagers understood anything”

“The suspicious thing is that their looks seemed stoic and empty. Even the little kids, they didn’t make any noise”

“They were just as obedient as they always are, which is not normal” Nam Shin responded to his comment not entirely satisfied, resuming the course, explaining.

“Well. It might not necessarily be like that, maybe it was caused by intimidation or shock. In this case, the matter becomes different from one person to another” Leon shrugged his shoulders, then straightened his seat without turning around and denied.

“Moreover, the files that were given to us at that time proved that everything was fine, just like any other normal human being”

He continued, wetting his lips, while Nam Shin furrowed his eyebrows and was unable to comment on what this boy said.

“Well, whatever. They might not have been there long. But what about them?”

“It was almost the same report, nothing new!”

“The people there, they were either suicide bombers, dead, or even escaped. In the end, the area was combed, and we did not find any important evidence” He argued.

Thinking about it, Leon wiped his chin in skeptical thought.

“You’re right. Then, is it possible that… we were searching in the wrong location all this time?”

“The government is not foolish until we are deceived and they will think about it. Otherwise, why did we find them among those ruins as well?”

“Was this all planned as well?”

“..It is not possible!” He gave him a sideways glance, then turned back to the computer.

“Look...” he added, expressing.

“The rough reports obtained by informants here show that one of the most important factors in the kidnapping was between the ages of 6 and 18 years. Doesn't this mean anything to you? he explained.
