"You want to work?"
Chiko turned back and looked at Gretta who nodded, with his face down.
"Yes, I have to work," Gretta answered without hesitation, her face also straightened up and looking straight at the road in front of her. "I can't just stay in the house and let someone else bear the burden of my life. I am not even anyone, you remember that right, Chiko?" she continued to explain, still looking straight and not looking at Chiko at all.
"But what do you want to do?" asked Chiko doubtfully.
The reason is, finding a job that suits you, especially with a decent pay, is very difficult in the area, especially without something that can be used as capital.
How could Gretta want to work odd jobs or other menial jobs-
"Anything, Chiko. It's okay to be a dishwasher too."
Huh?
Instantly Chiko looked at Gretta in disbelief. "Are you serious?"
"Yeah, what's the joke," Gretta answered quickly, looking at Chiko jokingly who glared at her "Why? Not sure if I can do that job, huh?" she continued teasingly.
Chiko reflexively nodded, then shook his head and blushed again when he saw the cheeks of the young woman beside his bulge, it seemed funny to him who didn't like anything cute.
"Isk, that's awful," grumbled Gretta.
She seems more free with new people around her, showing a more cheerful side. Not like when in the middle of the family, with all the lies that had been received.
"Eh! It's not like that, Gretta. But, aren't you errr…."
"Never worked, have you?" Gretta said quickly, then chuckled, shaking her head. "Yes, I can't. But, I definitely can. Remember! Those who try can do anything. Don't worry, I will learn quickly," she continued optimistically.
Chiko reflexively ruffled Gretta's golden mane in exasperation, eliciting a quivering reaction from the woman who also reflexively stepped away and stared at him nervously, scared.
"Ah! Sorry, i-
"N-nothing, you're not wrong. I'm the one who's still not used to it, it seems," interrupted Gretta with an uncertain tone behind her back.
Chiko cursed his impudent hand, grimaced when he saw the fearful reaction of that gaze "Sorry," he regretted.
"It's okay, let's continue walking. Afraid that Gea will look for it," Gretta said, changing the conversation and then walking away, leaving Chiko who was cursing behind her.
Shit! It's true, she's still traumatized, Chiko cursed before finally following Gretta who was walking further in front of him.
A few moments later….
Geana's house has been seen with the outside lights on.
On the stairs alone, Chiko was walking behind Gretta, keeping a safe distance away from the fear that the woman in front of her was still afraid of the presence of men.
Tap!
Ting! Tong! Ting! Tong!
Creak!
"Oh! You guys just got home, did you just finish?" asked Geana after opening the door to the house wide and she frowned when she saw different expressions from the two of them.
"Yes, like that. Ah! I went straight in, Gea, it's hot," Gretta answered without explanation, then entered first after getting a nod from Geana.
"Yeah, take a shower over there." Geana watched as soon as she entered the room, then turned to the man who was still standing in front of her with his arms crossed. "What? It's here, still want to stop by? It's late if you forget," she continued teasingly.
"Tsk, really stingy," said Chiko with a sour face.
"Really, why? Don't like it? That's your business," said Geana stupidly, but her expression immediately changed when she remembered Gretta's strange face when she walked in. "Eh! But, what's with Gretta? Why does she look so scared?" she continued curiously.
Ukh?
Chiko, who was asked of course, tried not to look too much like something was wrong between them. The reason is, he will be hit by Geana's bombing if he finds out that Gretta is back traumatized because she reflexively holds the golden mane.
He didn't want his handsome face to turn weird, with the blue stain of his friend who was now looking at him more suspiciously.
"Nothing, maybe because he had to wait to have an identity. In fact, she really wanted to work," Chiko answered, not completely wrong.
"Yes, she said she wanted to work. But it's difficult, isn't it, if there are no papers, let alone identification, right?" Geana confirmed, finally diverted from her suspicions by Chiko's explanation who quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
"Yeah right, what did I say," Chiko said quickly. "That's okay! I also have to get ready for work, see you there, bye," he continued and then left the boarding house after getting a nod from Geana.
"Yeah, go all the way," said Geana cruelly.
"Tch!"
"Damn you!"
Geana exclaims in annoyance when she hears the screeching of her favorite bodyguard at the club where she works. The guard man with all the charm, and the depravity that not everyone knows.
She received a casual wave from Chiko, she closed the door not wanting to be annoyed with her friend's behavior and decided to wait for Gretta to finish while watching television.
"But, it's too bad that Brian didn't finish the job right away. After all, it's just an identity," murmured Gretta curiously and finally chose not to bother, with her shoulders shrugging nonchalantly. "Hum…, Just hope it's over soon."
Back to Chiko who is currently walking towards her place, a simple apartment the result of his hard work.
He had almost arrived and only left the intersection, if only he did not receive a message from his friend who was taking care of the identity of the woman he had just driven home.
Tsk, why is it at this hour, fortunately there is still time, thought Chiko snorting.
However, feeling that what Brian was about to tell him was important, he quickly turned around and walked a little briskly towards the elite apartment, which fortunately was not far from where he was currently located.
And it didn't take him long to reach Brian's apartment, then knock on the door with the man who opened it.
Knock! Knock!
Creak!
"Come in! Hurry up," said Brian as he dragged Chiko into his residence.
"Damn it! Don't drag it," Chiko cursed as his hand was dragged away. But alas, Brian didn't care at all and instead threw him on the sofa.
Brugh!
"Don't tell me you want to rape-
"Shut up! Don't be careless," interrupted Brian annoyed, then followed Chiko to sit back in front of a laptop that was on.
"Yeah, tell me, hurry up! I have to work," Chiko ordered casually.
"Tsk, that's really bad, luckily my friend. Go back to your father," Brian grumbled and fell silent for a moment, when he saw a change in Chiko's expression that gave off an unpleasant air.
"Errr…, you better see what I got," Brian continued as he pointed the screen at Chiko who saw it without much comment.
Brian stepped aside for a moment, letting Chiko read what he had been looking for about Gretta, a woman he had only just known as an acquaintance and not a lover like what his friend had said at the time.
He knew clearly who Chiko was and he certainly wouldn't believe it, if a woman easily conquered her friend.
But, that woman is beautiful and…. Has a dangerously alluring aura, Brian thought absentmindedly lost in thought.
Then Chiko could only silently read the information he got.
No way, is this really her?
