I wanted to question how, but I knew better.

Dreamwalking isn't a new concept. Every culture in history has had some form of it, and you could even say it's not magic. The problem is, I don't remember falling asleep. The dream I'd just experienced felt too real to be nothing, but I still didn't understand what was happening. One minute, I'd been in Salt Lake City; the next, in a different neighborhood that didn't feel like it belonged in the same place. What did that mean? Was it part of the dream world or something more?

It didn't matter at the moment—not when Ivan was holding me, and it felt so real. He felt real. I could touch him; his scent was everywhere, and the sound of his breathing was so soothing I could've faced the devil. Even though I knew we weren't physically together, I needed this. However, if he had been here like this, where would he have been in the real world?

Why wasn't he home?
