Chapitre 17: Bucky, Howard and Steve -2
Time 6:35 PM
-----------Steve POV----------
I am tracking this Quinjet as per Martha when I suddenly hear a noise. I look up and on my right, I can see an aircraft coming down from the clouds. Hatch opens and a guy jumps down on his motorcycle from it while the plane is still at least 10ft. in the air. Bucky.
I push myself to my top speed and thanks to my luck, Bucky after jumping down from quinjet, took some time to balance his bike.
This time was enough.
"SHHHH...," a noise came behind his back and the Winter soldier dodged sideways without looking back. He had felt the bullets coming and someone was on his tail. He was less than 30 minutes near the site and he needed to put whoever this guy is down. And he must do it fast.
Bucky made a sudden turn and instead of heading towards the road, his bike rushed towards the Rogers.
Rogers stopped his run and aimed his gun again while his right-hand armband suddenly expanded and turned into a shield. Phil has basically created a retractable shield in his right hand. It was made from titanium alloy and was coated with a thin layer of osmium. It was the best he could think of as he used similar alloys in all other armours. The gun, a tranquillizer gun that was loaded with darts.
------- Bucky POV -----
I saw him. This guy is dressed in a simple black armour. He is not wearing a mask or anything. I don't remember the face. Gun and guard ready but I have no time to spend on him. This is an ambush and he clearly knew I was coming.
I speed up my bike and head straight towards him. There is no backup for this guy and this works for me.
"Boom!," I jumped and punched him but he took my punch and is still standing. Definitely an enhanced.
He is not using a normal gun and most of his attack is like a trap. Fuck! He wants to either capture me alive or delay the mission.

Bucky and Steve started their duel like two gladiators fighting in an arena.
Bucky tried to land a Push kick on Steve but Steve blocked it with his shield. Steve delivered a strong left roundhouse to Bucky ribs and followed with a shot from the tranquillizer. Bucky did a forward roll and suddenly stabbed Steve on his right leg with the knife he took out during his roll. The knife went deep in Steve's thigh and Bucky punched straight at Steve's chest with his metal arm. The punch connected and Steve was thrown on the ground like a cannonball. His gun was thrown somewhere and he was down on the ground for a few minutes before getting up.
Bucky walked towards him like an angry lion going for prey. He attacked with a simple straight jab from his right metal hand on his face. Steve blocked with his shield and landed a cross on Bucky's cheek. Before Bucky could shake it off Steve grabbed him at his from his back in a swift manner and delivered a belly to belly suplex effectively. Both men were on the ground now. Bucky was just hit on his jaw probably dislocating it and then that suplex definitely broke a few of his ribs.
Bucky wiped the blood he was coughing now and got up. Steve was on his feet at the same time but his right left was bleeding more now. After looking at Bucky, Steve took off his digital mask. This was his true face now. He hoped a tired bucky would be easy to talk to than a full focused one. Maybe Bucky can remember something looking at his face.
Bucky was surprised for a moment. Looking at the man who just changed his face. However, it didn't matter or changed anything. Both men rushed towards each other. Sometimes Bucky will be able to land a few punches hurting Steve but overall Bucky was getting tired faster. His breathing was getting difficult and Steve found an opening hit a couple of punches one after another on his ribs area.
Before Bucky could stable himself, Steve grabbed him in a choke position and then applied full pressure. Bucky tried to get out of the choke but Steve managed to hold on. Bucky found the knife in Steve's thigh and pressed it harder before taking it out and stabbing Steve again on another leg.
Steve loosened the grip momentarily but before Bucky could get out, Steve hit him with multiple punches at his liver area. Bucky struggled for air and his legs gave up. Steve managed to hold him in a rear choke and now started speaking to his friend.
" Your name is James Buchanan Bucky Barnes. We grew up together in Brooklyn. My name is Steven Grant Steve Rogers. I am Steve, I am here now, Bucky, wake up. I know you are in there somewhere. We buried my mother together, I lived on your couch, we are practically brothers. You know me Bucky. Remember our mission to capture Zola, Bucky. C'mon man. Steve Rogers, Try to remember my name Bucky," Steve started shouting. He knew his friend had his brain fried by HYDRA but Phil assured him that Bucky's memory can be unlocked with a strong simulation.
"Steve...Bucky...Zola," these names were buzzing in Bucky's head now. First, Howard then Steve Rogers then Bucky and finally Zola. He knew these names meant something to him. 'Zola', he hated this name and suddenly few memories of his torture flashed in his mind.
"Aaah....", Bucky left a painful howl escape from his mouth. He felt his head was splitting apart and Steve realised that Bucky was struggling more now so he let him breathe.
While Bucky was gasping for air, Steve came close to him and started speaking again- "Bucky get up buddy. You promised me that you will be with me to the end of the line. I need to get you out of here. Do you remember me now?", Steve asked hopefully.
"No...Bucy said looking back at Steve, "but I do remember Zola. I remember his smile and I remember HYDRA. Help me," Bucky pleaded to Steve.
"It will be fine Bucky. I promise. I got you, man. I got you now," comforted Steve while trying to pick Barnes up. He grabbed Bucky and then both somehow managed to get near trees. Steve tripped on something and both rolled down before stopping at some distance. Bucky was finding it hard to get up and Steve pulled himself and then looking towards the sky, he pressed his earpiece -"I got Bucky. I need a pickup. Martha connect me to operations now!"
While Bucky and Steve somehow managed to rest their backs on a tree, Howard's car suddenly passed through the road. Looking at the car, passing safely, Steve felt happy. He completed his mission and Howard is safe while Bucky is free from HYDRA for now.
Hope was looking at monitors and was watching Steve and Bucky fight like madmen. She was wondering if she could ever fight these two monsters. When Bucky grabbed Steve's hand and Steve pulled Bucky up, she knew they got the winter soldier. She had immediately contacted the other operatives and dispatched Icarus to bring both of them to the base.
Their first mission was successful.
She gave her final commands-"Attention all units, the package is safe. The shadow knights can attack HYDRA now. The attack is a go, I repeat attack is a go."
For Hydra agents hiding near the exit points and posing as civilians at various locations, it was a death sentence. It was simply a slaughter. The shadow knights moved quickly and without giving a chance to any Hydra agent, they rained bullets on them. It hardly took more than 3 minutes.
Some Hydra agents did manage to find some cover but then Falcon bombers dropped on their location.
A symphony of bullets and bombs. Howard Stark who was driving the car heard the sounds of bullets but didn't notice it first but the bombs were more than enough to give a small earthquake. He slammed the breaks down and got out of the car. After looking at those areas, he felt it was an attack on him and some SHIELD agents were fighting whoever came for him. He got inside the car and before his wife could question him further he told her to tighten up the seat belts.
"We need to go Maria. Put on the seat belts," Howard said and pushed some buttons on his dashboard. The Car suddenly started lifting in the air, wheels floated up and then the car was flying. Without wasting time, Howard decided to make a run for Pentagon. The Car was flying like a rocket and it soon entered the DC area.
While Howard escaped his fated death, the whole of New York woke up from the bombings and shooting noise. It was fated to be a special night for all of New york.
