Gaara and Choji were down in the arena, facing each other, one with a bloodlust aura that engulfed the entire area, the other trying to remain calm and centered on the task, when it comes to the current Gaara saying a fight can only end in with the death of his opponent, his lack of empathy and care for human lives is his greatest strength and weakness, unable to trust others, he would find himself often outnumbered, but his Kekkei Genkai combined with the strength of Shukaku the One-Tailed Tanuki, was more than enough to cover for it.
But Gaara is not invincible, his Absolute Defense has two major flaws, while it offers an automatic defensive reaction from the sand faster than Gaara's reflexes, his attack speed is slower in comparison, due to the need of Gaara's focus at the moment of the attack, on the other hand his sand prioritizes defense and will cancel an offensive action in case there isn't enough sand for both, the other flaw is that if an attack is fast or strong enough the sand shield becomes useless, in the other reality Lee was able to move faster than the sand and Deidara was able to break the defenses, in other words, Choji has a small chance to win this fight, if his Human Bullet Tank is strong enough then Gaara's Absolute Defense will be irrelevant, and that is a huge if.
Choji made the first movement, throwing six shurikens to test Gaara's reflexes, but he wasn't expecting an immobile Gaara, who was shielded by the sand, that took the shurikens out of their course, Choji changed his approach, running towards Gaara, trying to connect a punch, but the sand intervened once again, blocking every attempt to hit Gaara.
"That's strange, the sand is protecting him, but I can see his Chakra flowing through it, but he is not doing a mental effort, it's like if the sand had a mind of its own" Neji whispered next to me, with his Byakugan activated.
"Probably a Kekkei Genkai, the Storm Style has a similar effect, once I activate the Laser Circus it moves on its own trying to hit the objective until it depletes its energy or hits something else" I replied, without taking my eyes from the combat.
"Maybe, but I can't shake the feeling that there may be something else" Neji added, his Byakugan is broken, and his intuition even more, he is probably sensing Shukaku's influence on Gaara and the sand.
Choji changed his strategy again, seeing his regular attacks were ineffective against the sand, he jumped backwards, Gaara still haven't made a move against him, he seemed bored and indifferent, Choji expanded his body, spinning without moving from his place, faster and faster like a certain hedgehog, he released all the accumulated energy in a single movement, matching Lee's speed without his weights, reaching Gaara in a blink, the sand was still fast enough to react to his attack, but Choji kept grinding on it, sand flying everywhere, until he broke through.
Sadly for him, it was only the first and weakest layer, a second sand wall erected as soon as the first fell, stopping Choji's momentum, Gaara extended one arm and the same mimicked his movement, sending the giant Choji crashing against the wall, pinning him in place, Gaara's eyes reflecting his desire to kill, sending waves of sand in quick succession, Choji returned to his regular size, still unable to move, bloodied by the constant impacts and cuts provoked by the sand.
This Gaara was a psychopath, enjoying the suffering he provokes on others, as some kind of twisted vendetta against those that made him an outcast, he was everything I despised, I am a ninja, a Shinobi, if I have orders to kill I will kill, I will assassinate, and I will fulfill my mission, but I don't have to enjoy it, I don't have to be a psycho to be part of this world, I can be ruthless without being inhumane, I can and should care for others even when I walk this path of shadows, Gaara lacked love, friendship and sleep, due to Shukaku's ability to take over his body when he sleeps, but is not an excuse to be who he is, and the best proof is that he managed to change after his fight with Naruto.
The more I see him fight, due to the lack of a better term, the more I understand not only about him, but about his powers, and the way his Kekkei Genkai worked, Earth Style was present, mixed with Lighting Style, pouring his Chakra on the minerals, he magnetizes the sand, allowing him to control it at will, even his Absolute Defense can be explained this way, Shukaku maintains a magnetic field around Gaara, making the sand react to anything or anyone that tries to breach it, Shukaku handles, the speed, direction and even the intent of both Gaara and whoever is engaged with him, before letting the sand do its work or there would be a massacre every time someone is near Gaara.
In other words, if I find the balance between the two Natures, I can reproduce and enhance the Magnet Style, the easiest metal I can think of is Iron, but if I want a better defensive and offensive I need something else, Titanium should be my goal, while it has a low reaction to magnetic fields, it doesn't mean it won't be affected by the Style, it will resist my influence at most, meaning I'll need to use more Chakra to be able to manipulate it, after all Gaara's father the fourth Kazekage used Gold Dust with his Magnet Style, Gold being a metal that naturally repels magnetic fields, without issue as a counter to Shukaku's Sand due to its density, while Gold is malleable, in terms of toughness and hardness it is weak.
I felt the Earth Flame react to my constant rambling, trying to get my attention, I put my back against the wall, closed my eyes and entered a semi meditative space, just enough to be aware of my surroundings while I was inside my Inner Space.
I don't put too much effort or attention on other people's fights, this isn't about them, I should try to fix that... maybe, probably won't, anyway, hope you enjoyed it.
And like always with love, the author.
