Chapitre 5: Chapter 4

Rias Gremory knew that she had a good life. She was the heiress of one of the most prestigious families in the underworld. Her brother was one of, if not THE, the strongest devils in all history. And she had a great peerage. Her little cute servants who had become practically her second family and her home away from home. It was almost perfect.

Almost.

It was all ruined by her marriage contract to Riser Phenex. Sure she knew she had responsibilities as a heiress and knew she had to marry one day but by the seven sins could her parents choose a worse husband for her?

…well Zephydor Glasyo Labolas actually was worse. The young devil was a book description of a worthless delinquent that hadn't been convicted only because of his family's power and the fact that he never went after someone who was clearly more powerful than him.

But her point stands. Riser Phenex was one of the worst devils of her generation. The third son of Phenex family never made it a secret exactly why he wanted to marry her. And it had nothing to do with his 'continuation of their line' excuse. That one was such a bad lie that she was sure that original Lucifer would have cried in shame of Riser's incompetence. Both of their families had more than one child, sure her brother could not become the head of the family due to being the current Lucifer but her nephew Milicas did not have such a restriction. While Phenex family also had one daughter and THREE sons.

That was two more sons than most noble families needed! So no, Riser's wishes to marry her had nothing do with his shitty excuse and everything to do with—

"Rias!" Huh wha?

"Rias I have been trying to get your attention for five minutes, can you listen to me already?!"

Rias scratched the back of her head sheepishly, making her crimson hair move.

"Sorry Sona, what was it again?" Rias tried to smile but it probably looked more like a grimace, she did not like admitting her mistakes in any form, a side effect of her more or less perfect childhood by the efforts of her brother.

"We have been contacted by a unaffiliated devil who wants to meet us."

"Unaffiliated?"

"Not all devils are a part of our government. Devils whose parents die before they can be registered, half devils who are not registered on purpose and other similar cases cause there to be devils who are not a part of our government. They tend to live among humans without caring much about rest of the supernatural world but there are few who come out of hiding and properly join our faction once or twice a century." Sona explained to her friend something she was sure that had been explained to her before but didn't listen for one reason or another.

"And one of such devils have contacted us. What exactly was his reason?" Rias asked seriously, she might not be perfect but she had no intention of not doing her job as a supervisor properly. It was a responsibility given to her by her brother therefore in the eyes of the elder devils, her failings were his failings and something they could use to bother him. She had no idea how her brother hadn't atomized the old bastards to this day.

"He wants to meet us, he didn't give an exact reason but you should have your peerage ready for battle." Sona said and Rias had to wonder why her friend was being paranoid?

"Do you think that he would attack us?" They were the sisters of two Satans who were widely known as sis-cons. They might not like using their name whenever a problem came up but Rias knew that being their sisters meant if they were hurt, the one who hurt them would be committing suicide by two pissed off Satans.

"He probably won't. But there have been cases of unaffiliated devils attacking us because of their grudges against parents who have rejected them." The bespectacled Devil explained and Rias flinched at that. It really wouldn't be surprising if an abandoned child would make such a decision, as her friend had explained. Not everyone could use trauma to become a better person while also kicking ass and taking names like her cousin Sairaorg after all.

"Ok, then I will them them to be ready. Was there anything else?"

"Yes, he said that he wanted to meet you. Said that it was about a friend of his but didn't explain any further." Bespectacled Devil said as she adjusted her glasses.

Before the red headed devil could ask about 'why', Sona raised one of her hands.

"I do not know why and honestly, I do not care much about it either. He will come to the old school building in an hour so please inform your peerage. I will be there with Tsubaki and have the rest of my peerage on lookout in case things go sour." Bespectacled devil said and the Gremory heiress nodded at her. Leaving to inform her cute little servants to be ready for anything.

"Why do we have to go towards our goals in such a roundabout way again?" Valerie asked her king while the mentioned king simply smiled from his position, which was on Valerie's thighs where he rested his head.

"Come now, we already did the whole guns blazing thing with the fallen. We can't do it all the time or it will stop being fun." Tenma said with a wry smile on his face.

"Not to mention, this is pretty much the only way you'll get to meet Gasper peacefully." And Valerie was satisfied. She might be bloodthirsty but Tenma knew that not seeing her childhood friend for years had taken its toll on her, especially since he was with Rias Gremory, prime target for anyone who wanted to start a war.

"I still don't like it. We don't truly need them." Valerie pouted as she continued to play with Tenma's hair.

"Maybe. But using them is the easiest way to get back into the devil society in a flashy but positive way. Not to mention they are pretty much easiest ones to manipulate and being with them will also allow us an in with two of the Satans. We kinda need their influence for our goal." Tenma smiled as he got up and stretched. It was time to meet with the heiresses after all.

"I guess you are right." The vampire sighed as she followed after her master and just before activating the circle to teleport, they reminded each other of their goal again.

"Peace in our time." And then they left.
