Chapitre 129: Chapter 129

The dark red annihilation light twisted through the air in sharp angles and straight lines. A single misstep by any fallen angel would result in immediate destruction, their bodies consumed by the light and reduced to nothingness.

"Don't be careless! Fight him together!"

The fallen angels, once warriors of Heaven and now soldiers under Lucifer, quickly fell into formation. Under their leader's command, a dozen or so swooped towards Abel in a synchronized attack.

Abel adjusted his strategy, shifting from annihilation light to the Hellfire Curse. With a flick of his wand, a dark flame ignited in midair. Another violent motion of his wand caused the Hellfire to erupt, quickly taking shape as a massive winged flame demon. The demon lunged, its fiery arms sweeping toward the oncoming fallen angels.

*Boom!*

*Boom!*

Each strike sent waves of Hellfire cascading outward, forcing the fallen angels to scatter in all directions.

Abel's lips curled into a smirk. *Just as planned.*

He swung his wand again, and the Hellfire—now under his refined control—transformed. The demon exploded into fragments, which rapidly reformed into flaming crows. These fiery birds shrieked as they chased after the dispersed fallen angels, relentlessly hunting them down.

Screams echoed as the crows caught their prey, sending burning angels plummeting from the sky. Eventually, only the fallen angel leader remained, encircled by a swarm of crows, frozen in place.

Abel stepped forward, closing the distance in an instant. Without hesitation, he raised his wand and cast *Legilimency.*

Emerald-green filaments shot from his wand, piercing the fallen angel's eyes, ears, and nostrils, burrowing into its mind and soul. The angel thrashed and roared, its resistance strong. However, Abel pressed on, gradually breaking down its defenses.

Minutes passed, and at last, Abel breached the leader's mental barriers. Memories rushed forward like a flood, flashing before Abel's eyes. Fragment after fragment, chaotic and overwhelming.

Adjusting his spell, Abel filtered out the irrelevant, seeking one thing: knowledge of Lucifer's dominion over Hell.

Through the fallen angel's eyes, Abel saw Hell's desolate landscape. He soared alongside other fallen angels until his vision fixed on a range of jagged, sword-like black peaks. In their midst, a singular, towering peak rose higher than the rest. At its summit sat an obsidian throne.

Upon the throne, a young man clad in a black, form-fitting suit lounged with bare feet and closed eyes, exuding an aura of absolute authority. As Abel's consciousness drew closer, the man opened his eyes.

Those piercing eyes seemed to bypass the fallen angel, locking directly onto Abel. A wave of oppressive power surged toward him, as if time and space themselves were bending under the gaze.

Suddenly, the fallen angel's body in the memory was engulfed in black flames, vanishing in a silent inferno.

Abel's eyes snapped open, breaking the connection. The fallen angel before him was now ablaze with the same dark flames, its body dissolving without resistance.

To Abel's surprise, the angel's face showed no pain, only a serene calm, as if embraced by peace. Then, the angel's eyes opened, revealing eerie black and white orbs. It spoke, but the voice was no longer its own.

"I've long been curious about the human who inherited Hellfire's authority from Mephisto. You exceed expectations. It's a pity, though—many powerful beings already have their eyes on you. Otherwise, I might've invited you to my side."

Abel's suspicions were confirmed. "Lucifer?"

"Indeed," the voice responded, smooth and deliberate. "As an apology for my subordinate's intrusion, I'll offer you some advice: Never delve into the memories of those tied to higher beings unless you're certain you can protect yourself. The consequences are rarely in your favor."

"Why warn me?" Abel asked, his grip on the wand tightening.

"Warn? Perhaps in your view. But for me, this helps us both. Like the Ancient One, who seems so intent on aiding you, yet who can say her actions are entirely selfless? When one ascends to a certain height, every move serves multiple purposes. You'll understand one day."

Lucifer's tone grew more enigmatic. "This world is stagnant. Too peaceful. It needs a catalyst, a spark to ignite change. You, Abel, are that spark. Whether you rise beyond the waters or drown in mediocrity is up to you. But know this: the ripples you create will shape the future."

The voice softened as the flames began to fade. "I'll be watching, from beyond the pond. Until we meet again."

The flames extinguished completely, leaving only ash where the fallen angel had stood.
