Gideon was in a world of pain.
Every single one of his senses were so overwhelmed with agony that he couldn't think, his mind had completely shut down.
All he saw was red, all he heard was cracking and tearing, all he smelled and tasted was blood, and all he felt was complete and utter pain. If he could think, he was very sure that he would have committed suicide. Absolutely no form of training could prepare someone for this level of horror and Gideon was no exceptions.
And yet despite all of this, he had not passed out. Even as his very being was refigured and all his cells were ripped from place, Gideon stayed awake, because by instinct, he knew that if he lost consciousness, he would die. And death, was the only thing worse than pain.
At this point, he was left with a primal desire to live, because deep down, he knew that if he died, he wouldn't be able to protect his friends.
