When the armies returned to their respective worlds, the worldbuilders broke concentration to return to the real world.
"Nice job, guys." Philip, the office man, said while standing up from his chair to high-five them.
"You too," Axel replied while responding to the high-five.
"Easy peasy lemon squeezy." Thomas, the teenager, said as he took his phone out of his pocket.
"What should we do with the loot? Should each keep the loot they got or what?" Axel asked.
"I would say that one of us takes everything and deliver it to his respective group for them to split it; that's what we usually do when participating in rifts with multiple groups," Philip suggested.
"Works for me," Axel replied.
"I didn't get any loot, so I don't care," Thomas said as he shrugged.
"Now that I think about it, we only got two items. We got a few more in the last rift I participated in." Axel said, confused.
"The amount of loot varies between rifts. Even though its total value is similar when we talk about two of the same rank, getting fewer items usually means that you will get better add-ons and loot in general." Philip explained.
"It makes even more sense when you remember that each rift has a fixed amount of energy, so the final value of the loot is similar because the energy to create it is also similar." Thomas continued.
"It makes sense," Axel said while nodding.
After that, Philip and Axel connected their worlds so Axel could give him the loot his army got. Since Philip had much more experience participating in rifts than he, he was sure he would take care of the loot without many problems.
As they were exchanging loot, the thought that Philip could keep it for himself and never deliver it to the group crossed Axel's mind, but he decided not to worry about it.
Thomas was a witness to how he had given Philip the loot, so if he decided to keep it, it would be his word against the two of them. Also, it would be stupid for Philip to steal from one of the most prominent groups in town if he wanted to continue growing his world stronger.
After finishing the exchange, Philip began to pack his things up while Thomas made a phone call.
"Ok, guys. My older brother is coming to pick me up, so I'm leaving already. Nice to meet you, and I hope we see each again in another rift." Thomas said before he left the building.
"Well, I will leave too. I still have a long walk until I get home." Axel said while scratching his neck.
"Where do you live? I have my car outside, so I can bring you closer if you live near my way home." Philip said.
"I live in Black Rose Street, near the bus station," Axel said.
"You are lucky then. I can leave you in front of your house because I have to cross the parallel street." Philip said while thumbing up.
After that, Axel waited for Philip to pack his belongings and even helped him to carry everything to his car. Once they got everything inside, they entered the vehicle, and Philip began to drive toward Axel's home.
While he waited, Axel took out his phone and texted his friends to tell them about the rift and everything. As they were on the city's outskirts, he still had time to check on his world's condition after writing a few messages.
Since Nathan had broken through to the next rank during the rift, he would have to adjust a few things and add a few more to compliment this new level. But for now, he decided to settle the essential matters and leave the rest for later.
'Heaven, I want Nathan to become the new leader of Sacro. I'm sure he would do an excellent job with his new power. Also, I want more people to reach the new rank, so make them work toward that.' he mentally said to Heaven.
'As you wish.' she replied.
"You know, my office's manager also lives around here." Philip suddenly said.
Those words made Axel pay attention to the real world again, making him realize he was already on his street.
"Oh, really?" Axel said, surprised.
"Yeah. If I'm not wrong, that's his house." Philip said while pointing at a building.
Following his finger, Axel looked over and realized the truth.
Philip was pointing at his own house.
"Wait a second. Are you one of my father's coworkers?" Axel said, shocked.
"Holy fucking shit. That's why your face looked familiar to me. You are the manager's child!" Philip said, surprised as he stopped the car in front of the house.
Not knowing what to say, Axel got down the car.
"Well, thanks for bringing me home. If you could keep this a secret from my father, I would appreciate it." Axel said.
Hearing that, Philip burst into laughter.
"What is so funny?" Axel asked, confused.
"I think the fact that you haven't realized I'm here." Axel's father said from one of the house's windows as he took the cigarette out of his mouth.
Here is today's chapter.
I hope you like it and that you have a nice day.
I'll see you around for more.
