Chapitre 8: 8 Rein is a Selfish Human But a Selfless Leader
The slime hesitated whether to bring them to their safety.
'If I bring them to the human city, it's no doubt I would get attacked being the body of this slime.'
'I've also just reincarnated to this world so I doubt I can win nor escape being targeted by humans.' after pondering for a while, the slime decided to leave them alone... Until a high-pitched voice sounded out.
"Slime-san, thank you very much," moving Rein's arm, Tilda stood up and spoke to the slime.
"Ah, it's no big deal." the slime responded back to Tilda.
"By the way Slime-san, what are you doing around here?" Tilda casually started a conversation with slime.
"I'm just wandering around, trying to get used around here-... Are you not surprised that I can talk?" the slime widened his twinkling gel eyes.
"Surprise or not... Most high-leveled monsters possess the intelligence to talk and the hidden skill to manipulate mana to make a sound!" Tilda said innocently.
"Oh is that so," the slime made a fist with his gelatin body and made a satisfied gesture.
However, the slime missed one thing: most high-leveled monsters do possess the ability to talk but a 'slime' are definitely not included in the 'high-leveled' category.
'As expected, it's [Error]. So just by being near him regardless he is conscious or unconscious, he's affecting everything around him. Since following Rein-san, only good things had been happening.' Tilda smiled upon the sight of her system notification.
"Slime-san slime-san, are you interested in joining our party?" Tilea was hyped for some reason that she invited slime into [Fate] without the party leader's permission.
"What? You're inviting a monster like me?" the slime once again widened his eyes due to the sudden invitation.
"Yup! Although I'm supposedly not allowed to invite a party member on my own, it's okay! Rein-san will definitely like a 'person' like you." Tilda said to the slime.
"Your party leader like someone like me? He sure is a weirdo..." the slime once again pondered for a while.
A human partying with a monster is the first the slime heard it and is unsure if it will work. Although the benefit would be great and he had a hunch that this party would do good in the future, he also didn't know what are going to happen to him in case the party wasn't officially accepted.
"I do like your invitation but, I am more fit with solo-playing so let me decline it." the slime said and shrugged.
"Is that so..." Tilda said pitifully and saw the slime preparing to leave.
When the slime was slightly far away from them, she called it and shouted. "Slime-san, stead of Rein-san, thank you again for saving us!"
The slime didn't turn back this time and quietly left.
Lately that night, she carried the two to the inns and paid for two-room using Rein's gold before hesitating.
'If it was him rather than paying for 2 rooms with his money, he would be angry for letting me sleep on the same room with him.'

The morning has come. Opening my eyes, I found myself sleeping on a regular bed with an unfamiliar wooden ceiling. Nearby me, sleeping on another bed was Shouta who was still asleep.

I heard the sound of the door unlocking and with an instantaneous speed, I've thrown back the hugging pillow back into the hugging pillow space.
"Y-yo, Tilda. Was it you who carried us all the way here? Thank you for that." I spoke to Tilda in a carefree manner.
"Rein-san, you were lighter than what you look like." Tilda complimented me.
'Huh? Is that supposed to be a compliment? Well, I'm slightly fat and once weighed 90kg before diet but... No nevermind. Let's just accept it.'
"Thank you for that. Anyway, do you know what happened to Rimuru?" I changed the conversation because the talk about my weight was too embarrassing.
After all, I've tried the diet in the past to change myself but in the end, before I get transported here, I was only able to reduce it to 69kg.
"Rimuru? Oh, the slime-san! If it's about him, I've tried inviting him to the party but I got declined mercilessly." Tilda reported to me what she did yesterday while acting crying.
"Oh damn, he didn't accept the party invitation. That's a pity. Wait a minute, don't you understand me too much considering this is only the 2nd day we've become a party member? How did you know I would want him as my party member?" I acted surprised.
Although I don't know if inviting someone to party without their leader's permission was a common thing in this world but I still tried her.
"I had a hunch that Rein-san would like a unique person, like when you invited Shouta without even him demonstrating his 'seemingly useless' unique skill." Tilda reasoned with me.
"I indeed like a unique person," I said. There are many 'unique types' I like but I don't like some of them.
The type with a backstory that tells you that 'this guy is the main character is a good unique person.
But the type of backstory which tells you 'this guy is a secret boss and will massacre you guys in the end' is scary.
"Anyway, Rein-san, I came here because I wanted to give you this," Tilda said before putting her hand into a pocket.
What she took out was a ping-pong-sized peanut.
"It's Speenaut. Eating it can enchant your [Agility] hidden-stats value growth by 50% until you accumulate 50 agility through training!" Tilda said something great without blinking an eye.
I just found out yesterday that you can increase your stats through training but isn't this item so much cheat!? It's almost like turning into an exp cheat protagonist.
I wanted it so much! If I could do it, I would like to exchange my [Prothor] skill with something else but it's pointless regretting anything more.
So I told Tilda. "That's a great find, Tilda! This is what you've been chasing for yesterday, isn't it? You should consume it right away!"
