Chapitre 40: Absence

I didn't see him. I felt it press on my nerves. Once I collected myself on the ground, I haphazardly tried to run out to find him only to be greeted by hesitant maids. No one wanted to disclose to me where my husband had gone. Perhaps, I shouldn't even be calling him my husband. 

The scalding hot bath made me feel better. My skin seared, turning pink as I submerged myself into the depths. It got harder and harder to breathe until the edges of my vision grew blurrier and I finally forced myself to surface. I gasped, feeling oxygen slam into my lungs. 

Did he hate me? Was he going to leave me? 

I needed to go apologize. 

I would have if he had come back. 

It had been nearly a week since Carlisle had been in the same room as I and rumination took ahold of me. I needed to give him something, but I had nothing to give. "Can you call Duchess Eleanora?" I questioned the maids, "It's the least you all can do."
