Ginger didn't mean for that to come out as harshly as it did. It was the truth though. Even her uncle was gone now. He died while she was in college. Families were kind of a touchy subject for her but she just had to be the idiot to ask while they were sort of on the topic. It wasn't his fault. 

Dane's face fell. "Oh. I'm sorry."

"It's alright," she reassured him before realizing to her great relief that her tank was full. "Anyway, I'm done here so I should get going."

"Wait! Do you want to get dinner? Whatever you want, my treat."

She had never been asked out by a kid before. Exactly how old did she look? Or did he not care how much trouble she would get in for getting involved with a teenager when she was a teacher? Though he wouldn't know she was one. Still.

"That's very kind of you but I don't date people younger than me. Have a nice rest of your day though."
