Percival rubbed his eyes tiredly while staring at me.
When his hands left his face a confused expression looked back at me.
"What's with the weird get-up?" He asked as he examined me from top to bottom with curiosity from his bed. Everyone else mimicked him as they observed.
I smiled slightly.
I quite disliked the 80s and 90s fashion, as a person who lived in the 21st century with better clothes and was accustomed to different fashion tastes, wearing that vintage stuff simply didn't feel right. All I did was transfigure it according to my memory.
A bit of original magic to cover the gaps in the spell and I was left with incredibly comfortable clothes. I also imbued them with bullet-proofing. That's what I meant by original magic, I used metal as the material for the clothing, making it as light, flexible and soft as cotton. It was rather simple, and I was protected from muggle bullets. I win in my books.
Naturally, I wasn't about to explain all of that to them.
"These are original clothes I made using inspiration I gained from the muggle world. I like it, it's comfortable and convenient." I explained while continuing to pack up stuff up. I walked to my nightstand and fetched the piece of paper containing my order and placed it in my bracelet. I had stayed up until late fixing everything up.
"Ah, well that's fine then, to each their own I say. But where are you going so early in the morning?" Percival asked as he looked out the window. The first rays of sunlight had just peeked over the horizon not long ago.
"I need to go back to Diagon alley to have the bracelet made. So, I won't be back until later." I responded casually.
"Wait… Diagon Alley, is that the place you talked about before? The one in England?" Percival suddenly asked, his voice raising an octave as he sat up with vigour.
I nodded at him, "that's the one."
Fred shook his head this time, "Tom, even though you can apparate, there is a massive spell created, maintained and watched over by MECUSA. Anyone attempting to apparate in or out of the country will be stopped, and instead pulled towards an array inside the depths of MECUSA headquarters where dozens of incredibly strong guards are waiting around the clock. You wouldn't even process what happened before you were captured." He said seriously.
I was surprised by his words, who knew there was something like that. But on second thought, it made sense, if there were no restrictions stopping outside forces, then anyone could attack at any one point. This Spell must use up an incredible amount of magical energy, manpower and resources.
I wondered if the Ministry had something like that back in England.
[They do… but they don't. it stopped anyone from apparating directly in, but not out. so, you can leave whenever you want. They simply don't have the resources to use the full spell. The ministry is weaker than MACUSA by several levels.] Drak said suddenly.
It sounded bad, and in a way it was, but they could at least track who left before they did so even if they couldn't outright stop them. Plus, the main threat was from the outside, so when they chose, they naturally prioritised protection against external threats.
But there was always one overpowered existence in this magical world. House-elves! They had magic that was far superior to wizards. they could not be restricted or tracked by these flimsy spells. It was like walking through a wall of bubbles.
A marvellous thing elves were. Too bad they were masochistic and subservient. Otherwise, wizard kind would be either enslaved or extinct at this rate.
In any case, I understood Fred's words, but there was no need to worry about them.
"I can get through it without being stopped or tracked. But thank you for the warning. Quite an interesting spell." I responded.
Fred was momentarily surprised before recovering, I could already tell he understood I had my methods. But everyone else was astounded by my words.
"What do you mean Tom? Can you really do it?" Robert asked in astonishment.
"Yeah, as easy as making professor Brambleton slip and fall on his ass," I said with a chuckle. Everyone else laughed.
Percival was quiet for a moment before looking up at me again.
"Can we come along? I have never left America, I'm very excited to see what your home is like Tom." He said excitedly. Instantly everyone else perked up and turned to me with fervent gazes. I couldn't help my lips from twitching. I guess it wasn't a bad idea...
As long as Jenna didn't come, she was as curious as a little baby when it came to anything adventurous, anytime anything she didn't know or she hadn't seen before presents itself to her, she would scurry off after it, not leaving until all its secrets were unravelled.
I would have a massive headache if she came.
"Sure, I don't see why not…" I said after considering it for a moment.
Percival pumped his fist excitedly into the air.
"YESSS! Ok, let's have Jenna-"
"NO!"
"NO!"
"NO!"
"NO!"
Everyone instantly interrupted him the moment the name 'Jenna' was brought up. Everyone was very clear about how she would react.
I nodded slightly after observing their reaction.
'At least your all sensible.'
"But we can bring Abby-"
"NO!"
"NO!"
"NO!"
"NO!"
Instantly, another round of rejection appeared. Percival, indignant at their reaction instantly jumped on the bandwagon and kicked Robert while he was down. If he couldn't bring his crush, neither could he!
Robert looked at everyone with teary eyes. But all he got were stern unyielding expressions.
'It seems only Fred and John are reliable' I nodded to myself.
"Humph, only a beta male like yourself would bring along one woman. An exemplary man like myself shall bring a harem of girls with us." John said in an arrogant tone, his chin up as if he was looking at a dirty pig rolling in the mud with a happy expression.
"Bastard!"
"Bastard!"
"Bastard!"
"Bastard!"
Everyone instantly erupted and jumped on the man swarming him with punches and kicks.
I stood there rubbing my forehead as I looked at this bunch with disappointment. I turned to Fred with hope, yet remembering back to yesterday, I had an inkling that if his crush was here he would be just like them.
Noticing the change in the way I looked at him, Fred nodded and gave me a thumbs up.
As if saying, 'you are wise brother, you know me so well.'
"Bastards!" I cursed angrily.
