"I don't know the context, but certainly, by the way, they were speaking that it was something that could break royal laws which the maid feared about," Evelyn said lowering her voice, displaying the graveness of the matter. 

Indeed it was a serious matter. She didn't know if she was over assuming their conversation as most of the time the servants gossip and spread rumours. But they would never do something, disobeying the royal rules. Yet she was scared. She didn't know which of her secrets were known by them. 

"Do you know who they were?" Earl asked. 

She nodded and replied, "The two males I know, cause I have found them twice speaking something strange but the maid, who left now, seemed to be the one who found the secret."
