Vanya rushed to me the moment she had put down the garment bag. She seemed to think she couldn't get into the room or to my side fast enough. Not that I minded. She was still a dear friend to me, and she had married Uncle Isaiah, so that made her family. Not by blood, but by bonds alone.

"Addie!" She squealed in delight. "You have no idea how long I have been waiting for you to try on your dresses!" Her voice just kept getting higher and higher. She was always so enthusiastic when she spoke, especially about clothes. "Oh, I missed you so much!"

"I missed you too, Vanya. Where were you though? I didn't see you when I got back. Were you out of town?"
