Chapitre 12: TO HAVE THE CROWN GETTING IN YOUR HEAD!

"You could have stuck to lying, you know but when that dilemma of either or not to tell me the truth, arose in your head, I could see right through it."

Ambrosia explained to him. So even before he could admit that he had indeed lied about it but then she had already come to know about it, without a word spoken from his mouth.

"Wow!"

He said, amazed by her capacity. It must feel so cool to be able to read minds and not have to bother actually thinking about what was going on in the mind of others.

"Why wow?"

Ambrosia narrowed her eyes at the young prince.

"It is amazing how many things you are capable of doing...meanwhile me...well, never mind."

The Prince said, looking away. Although being born a prince, what almost everyone desired for but he did not feel special at all.

The privileges, everything that came with being born as a prince, faded underneath the demeaning talks and bullies he had to undergo every day in the palace and outside.

His parents were the Monarchs and the strongest of all in Middle Earth, yet he did not feel any power.

His grandparents and great-grandparents were the ones who took part in the Dark Era wars and successfully protected their people from the infiltration of other species.

Their names were forever imprinted in the pages of history, never to be forgotten.

Even his father's name was nothing as compared to what the former monarchs had achieved and it was only after the news of an alliance with the Queen of Saunders for the evolution of an heir from the magic womb had made him quite known among his peers and other monarchs in the Middle Earth.

"You mortals..."

"What about mortals?"

Damien interrupted the princess right away even before she could complete whatever she was about to say.

"Let me complete first."

"I'm sorry!"

He apologized. He was just too eager to know things. He had never talked to a vampire in his life, let alone be close to one...no other species were allowed in their land.

Although rumors had it that the other kingdoms in the border were infiltered by other species, not mortal blood, but the Kingdom of Mortals was very strict about that rule of theirs...that their gates would forever be closed to any impure blood in their land.

The proclamation that Queen Ranavalona had drafted, and sealed by her King Ranavalon, it still was imprinted in the blood and mind of people.

"You mortal blood only desire to have it all easily, without any hard work.

Yet still, there are few like you in the mirror forest where they had mastered the art of magic..."

Ambrosia let out. She had learned from the ancient scripts that quite a few of the witches in the mirror forest were mortal blood.

And it even took him by surprise. He had not known of that. Could humans become witches?

"But are they not witches?"

Damien implored. Ambrosia nodded. They were indeed witches but had only become so. They were born into this world as a mortal regardless of everything and still that mortal blood ran deep inside their veins.

"But also a mortal blood like you. "

Ambrosia added.

"Instead of aspiring to have it all easy, you must work hard for it.

Nothing comes with the cup of tea."

Damien had no idea if the vampire princess was giving him the motivation to do better or mocking him at the same time.

From afar, up the palace tower, from her chambers, Queen Delilah was watching the entire scenario.

She was thankful that at least both of them were warming up to each other. Perhaps the prep talk with the Princess was successful.

"What are you staring at?"

She had not realized that her husband had entered the chamber and stood right behind her. She tilted her head to look at him.

"Look at them...you think it could work out?"

She questioned the King. He remained silent at first, watching over the Prince and the Princess talking away in the garden below.

"Does it even matter?"

The King reverted the question back at her, making the Queen part her gazes away from looking out to her husband's face.

"It is an alliance, Delia...not a real union like ours.

She would marry our son to provide us with an immortal heir, strong.

And we would provide the Vampiress Queen with our skilled army to fight her incoming war.

If the war is won, there would never be another decade-long f dark sky and if you see, we are in the most profitable position from this alliance.

Let's just keep it at that. "

The King completed. And she could not believe the kind of words her husband was spitting out at that moment.

"Why are you darting at me like that?"

The King implored. The Queen shook her head and resumed looking back outside the window.

"I was a fool to think you had more in mind than just not using our son as bait."

Before the King could say anything anymore, Delilah spoke up again.

"You sound so much like your father, Delaware.

So much like your grandparents and the ones before them."

She gave him a sad smile. And he had gone silent. Perhaps when you ascend the throne, things changed as they seemed right then and there.

"You know we do not have any other alternatives either, Delia...you very well are aware of that. "

He said, not knowing if he was trying to defend himself in front of the judgemental look of his wife or for being exactly the same as his ancestors before him.

"It is true when they say that you can't have all at the same time.

The Throne...this crown had taken away the man that I had fallen in love with...

It had gotten in your damn head!"

The Queen snapped, touching the golden crown resting on her husband's head.

"Nothing had gotten into my head! You just have forgotten your part to play!"

Saying that the King stormed out of the way, leaving the Queen all alone in her thoughts. She put her attention back outside and caught the Princess staring up at her as they walked away in the other way with the Prince.

The Queen did not know if she had heard them or if it was just a coincidence that their eyes got caught up together in the same moment.
