Chapitre 19: Turning Point
After both teams left the stage, the fight was considered ended but the result was to be decided. For now, theyre monitoring Team Victland's condition.
The whole tournament was entirely paused and the next match was temporarily postponed until the situation settles.
The audiences were freaking out. The organizers are panickly trying to resolve the problem. They couldnt make an announcement either by how noisy the crowd is due to all the panic.
The Princess were asking her servants and the organizers to find out and tell her what is happening.
Cali, Ceed, Zen, and Mica visited the clinic to check on Team Victland's condition. When they arrived, Biel and an organizer were watching over them. All of them are already awake and well except of their leader.
Team Victland Arch Mage: "What do you need from us?" She asked aggressively.
Cali: "My name is Cali. I came here to see how you're doing.. and to apologize for what happened."
Biel: "Cali is the one who saved you."
Cali: "And Im also the reason why all of you almost died. So I must apologize for my grave mistakes." Cali kneeled.
"I wasnt able to control my temper. If I was more mature and rational, I must not have done those acts. I must ask for forgiveness for my stupidity, though I dont expect all of you to forgive me, so you all really dont have to."
Their leader woke up and said: "What happened? Where am I?"
Victland Ranger: "Kamatha! Im glad you're alright!" She hugged him.
Kamatha (their leader): "Did we lose?"
Victland Warrior: "Yes, we lost. We are all destroyed by just these two."
Cali: "Mr. Kamatha, I apologize for what I have done to you, especially. I almost took you and your friend's life."
Kamatha: "Then, how did you saved us?"
Cali: "A surgical spell. It can completely heal a person on critical condition."
Kamatha: "Does that mean we're all completely fine?"
Cali: "Yes."
Kamatha: "Hm... If all my friends are fine, I suppose I can forgive you. You caused everything but you fixed it all back like nothing happened. Its fascinating. I also have to apologize. We were aggressive towards you, that might have caused your murderous intent to me, if Im not mistaken. Its just we were mistreated and misguided ever since were just children. That's why we started to act aggressive to anyone. I have finally learned my mistakes during that moment, when I was very close to death. It was the moment of my life where I finally woke up from my arrogance."
Victland Arch Mage: "Kamatha.. Is that actually you?"
Victland Warrior: "You've changed so much."
Kamatha: "All I can say is that I got a second chance in life and I dont wanna mess up this time."
Since he's their leader, Kamatha influenced his teammate's mind that are open to listen to him.
Victland Arch Mage: "I see. We accept your apology, Cali."
Victland Ranger: "No problem here."
Cali stood up and said: "I appreciate your consideration. I will value it for the rest of my life."
The organizer left.
Cali: "We must go now."
Kamatha: "Win the final round for us!"
The whole Team Cali left.
Victland Arch Mage: "What exactly did you realize in that moment, Matha?"
Kamatha: "I realized that acting hostile to people you call enemies would not make them less hostile to you. It might just start a never ending cycle of revenge."
Kamatha lived in an environment where Rogue magicians are pressured to be in a high ranking in schools, especially in the Victland's National Academy. They were also influenced by the elder's hostile behavior to foreign people, particularly to Agham people. As the Academy's top ranker, these teachings were all directly told to Kamatha.
After the organizer reported about the situation of Team Victland, the tournament continues. Team Cali rests in their room for a while before they went back to watch the match.
They then saw the obvious situation of the current match. That Team Agham was clearly losing. Matt and Pete were fainted on the ground beside Shine, it looks like they were shot down before they even get a chance to take a step to approach their opponents.
Shine and Prince on the other hand were already exhausted. There was not even seven minutes after their match started, yet.
Despite Prince wielding the Dragon's Bane, he's still being toyed by their mysterious enemies.
The cloaked individuals finally unveiled their faces before their leader spoke.
Saul: "Hear us, everyone. We are the Sacrifices. Divine prophets and messengers of the only true god, Lord Makali. We are here today to spread the words of the god, and demonstrate the power of his mere subordinates."
Jude: "Massa."
On the hands of Massa, is a highly charged mana arrow, ready to be fired.
Cali's eyes widen.
Cali: "Massa!!" He screams as he tries to reach for her.
Massa's body froze, but she already let go of the arrow.
It flew to Team Agham and hits Shine on her stomach. The arrow blew up and caught all of Team Agham in the explosion. Shine's body parts were flying everywhere. Her blood turned into a crimson rain that painted the stage. Matt, Tania, and Pete are also dead, while Prince was protected from the Dragon's Bane blessing. Prince was the only one left alive.
The people who witnessed what happened starts screaming and panicking. But before the chaos gets worse, everyone's frozen in their position.
Massa. A poor girl who lived with her mother, little sister, and her abusive father. The three of them are victims of their father everytime he's drunk or simply mad. He treats them violently to the point where they planned to escape from him even if they have nowhere to go. Their father found out about their plan to escape and his anger led him to kill his wife. Massa successfully escaped from him but she had no idea about her sister. She then lived in the streets as beggar for few months until she was abducted by a gang of men who forces kids to do labor for them. Thats where she met Cali and took care of him. She stood as his kind older sister in the time they where together. When the gang who abused them finally got caught by the authorities, Massa asked the soldiers about what happened to her sister. She found out she's still living with her father so she immediately went back to their old home to tell her to escape together. Her sister suddenly confessed that she was the one who told their father about their plan to escape back then, because she was afraid to lie to their father when he asked her what's going on. Massa grew mad at her. She beats her little sister with killing intent but their father heard her little sister's cries so she left before she was found. Ever since then, Massa was trying to find a way to avenge her mother which led her to being one of the Sacrifices.
Cali: "Massa!!!"
Massa: "Cali?! Are you the one doing all of this?"
Cali calmed down and slowly walked towards the stage.
Cali: "You've changed.. for the worse. I even gave you all a second chance but it looks like only one type of punishment fit for people like you."
Massa: "You wont be able to understand my pain, Cali!"
Cali stepped foot on the Colosseum stage and stopped.
Cali: "You're wrong. I understand it very well."
Massa: "Those dead-looking eyes, you're not the Cali I know. Who are you?!"
Cali: "I thought its been pretty obvious already."
Everyone starts to hear the voice of Cali in their mind, not just everyone in the Colosseum, but everyone in the whole world.
Cali: "The last war emperor of the Agham Empire who conquered the whole world a hundred years ago is back. I am Lord Makali Albedo."
Soul: "Dont you dare tarnish the name of our lord."
Jude: "Saul, shut up! I have read the books.. his power is exactly like Lord Makali's.."
Massa: "You're an actual emperor one hundred years ago?!"
Cali: "As far as I remember. I never took any of you pathetic terrorists to be my servants."
Cali raised his hand towards them. All of them starts to suffocate. It was a two minute full of pain and desperation until they finally lost conciousness and died, all five of them.
