Chapitre 53: Inheritance
You are ten percent of the people who you are surrounded with.
So, if you are surrounded with incompetent people then it's very likely that you will become incompetent too because ten percent of incompetent is still incompetent.
And this was the exact reason why Dreamer chose not to turn the beasts that Liberi killed into his subordinates.
"You are right, my lord. Sorry for my foolish question." said Liberi as he apologized to Dreamer in a respectful manner.
"It's fine." replied Dreamer as he sat down on the ground to take some rest.
But after seeing that Dreamer sat down, Liberi got very confused because he thought that his lord would collect the souls from all the beasts.
"My lord, are you not going to take their souls?"
After hearing this question Dreamer first shook his head and then he replied in a casual manner.
"We aren't alone, Liberi. The eagle is still here."
"Oh! Yes, my lord. I almost forgot about him." spoke Liberi as he gave a sly smile.
"Yeah. Everyone must have forgotten about him too." stated Dreamer.
"Everyone, my lord? You mean, me and Altair, right?" asked Liberi in a confused manner.
"Yeah, I mean you and Altair." answered Dreamer with a small smile.
"Anyway, let's call him down." said Dreamer as he looked up at the sky.
"Hey Eagle! Come down or do you want me to send my subordinate to fetch you?" asked Dreamer playfully as he pointed towards Altair with his thumb.
And after hearing what Dreamer said the Eagle flinched in the air as if he became scared of Dreamer.
And with fear in his eyes, the Eagle finally came down and stood inside the ring in front of Dreamer.
"Congratulations on winning the fight, Mr. Ali!" said the Eagle in an enthusiastic manner.
"Leave these things aside and tell me why the hell you weren't coming down? Were you waiting for me to call you?" said Dreamer in a serious tone as he didn't like the Eagle's behavior.
And after Dreamer said this, the Eagle became even more scared than before. But still, the Eagle conjured his will power as he replied Dreamer while trying his best to not make him angry.
"Not at all. Mr. Ali. It's just I got…afraid after seeing your power."
Pfftt…Hahaha!
Dreamer started laughing after hearing the Eagle as he found it funny that he was able to scare someone.
"Liberi! Was I looking scary back there?" asked Dreamer while laughing.
"Not at all, my lord. You were looking the same as a lord supposed to look." answered Liberi as he expressed his honest feelings.
"See? I was not looking scary at all. Hahaha!" said Dreamer to the Eagle as he again laughed.
And on the other hand, the Eagle was just standing with his head facing downwards as he was still afraid to look at Dreamer's face.
"So, the fight is over right?" asked Dreamer as he finally stopped laughing.
"Yes. Mister Ali" answered the Eagle while still facing downwards.
"Then why are you still here? Go! And my name is not Ali, it's Dreamer."
"Ahh, yes I am going..No! I can't go yet." spoke the Eagle while fidgeting as he again became scared.
And Dreamer on the other hand didn't understand what the eagle meant by that.
"What do you mean you can't go yet? Do you want revenge or something?" spoke Dreamer in a cold manner.
"No, not at all! I don't want anything. I am just trying to do my job." said the Eagle haphazardly as he didn't want Dreamer to see him as his enemy.
"What job?" asked Dreamer as he raised one of his eyebrows.
"Mister Dreamer, do you know that this forest is divided into 10 parts and each part is ruled by the strongest beast of that area?" asked the Eagle instantly.
"No, I don't know any such thing! Tell me more." said Dreamer as he became curious.
"Absolutely! I will gladly tell you more because that's my job after all." said the Eagle as he started explaining.
"Mister Dreamer, there are 10 lords who rule the 10 parts of this forest. And the Gorilla you just fought was one of them and the most interesting thing is that this Gorilla was the weakest of them all!"
"What?" exclaimed Dreamer in surprise as he was shocked to know that the Boxer Gorilla who nearly killed him was the weakest among the 10 lords.
"Yes mister Dreamer, the Gorilla was the weakest. And one more thing, now that you have defeated the lord of this part, it technically makes you the lord of this part now.
So, my job is to give you a scroll that will officially make you the lord of this part. Here." explained the Eagle as he took out a scroll from his furs and moved it towards Dreamer.
After hearing all this from the Eagle, Dreamer was not sure whether to take the scroll or not because he couldn't confirm whether the Eagle was saying the truth or not.
'Take it.'
'Hmm?'
'Just take it, kid. There is a hierarchy everywhere in this universe so no need to be so suspicious.' spoke Helix as he advised Dreamer to take the scroll.
'Well, I will take it if you say so.' said Dreamer as he decided to take the scroll.
And after deciding, Dreamer took the scroll from the Eagle and opened it.
And just after an instant when Dreamer opened the scroll, a notification from the system sounded inside Dreamer's mind as an interface appeared before Dreamer.
[ Ding! ]
[ Does the host want to accept the inheritance and become a lord of this part? ]
'Yes' said Dreamer as he had already decided to accept this inheritance and become a lord.
And after Dreamer said yes, some more notifications from the system sounded inside his mind.
[Ding ! ]
[ Host has successfully inherited 10% of the inheritance. ]
[ Host has gain a title : Lord of the Forest (10%) ]
'What? Helix…" Dreamer tried to say something to Helix after seeing the notifications but before he could say anything further he was interrupted by some more notifications from the system.
[ Ding! ]
[ New Quest Revealed! ]
[ Kill all the remaining 9 lords alone to gain the title 100% ]
[ Time Limit : 10 days. ]
[ Rewards : Skill Merge ]
[ Failure Penalty : Host will lose the Mythical Ring. ]
Sigh!
After seeing all these notifications, Dreamer just let out a helpless sigh but after a few seconds he accepted the circumstances as he expressed his thoughts on the matter.
'I guess being a lord is really my destiny.'
