Chapitre 12: An awkward situation

Eva, Anna, and Sarah were momentarily watching how Samuel was petting a group of ferocious beasts, who were all trying very hard to get his attention.

Anna couldn't stop herself from asking, "Are you able to communicate with them as well Samuel?"

"No, not with words at least, sometimes it may look like they understand what I'm saying, but I think they're reacting more on instinct and by reading the overall situation."

Eva was looking at this scene while deep in thought. She was pondering about all the problems that would arise if others found out he is able to interact with magical beasts on friendly terms. 'What if he can control the magical beasts and use them for military purposes? What if he's even able to control an entire beast horde? Even if he can't do both, who says he won't be able to do so in the future? No matter what it costs, even if they have to start a war, they will never allow him to live! She realized they need to leave here immediately, they need to leave before anyone else could see this happening!'

"Samuel, I'm sorry I have to end all the fun, but we need to go before other people see what's happening here, we need to keep this a secret at all costs! Think about it, you're smart enough to know what will happen." Eva told him in a slight hurry.

The thought didn't even occur to Samuel, he was too occupied playing with these beasts. But when he heard Eva warning him, he directly understood, they need to leave immediately!

"Thank you, I had a lot of fun! It was very nice to meet you all but I'm afraid I really need to go now. I'm sorry but you can't come with me this time, but I promise I will come back soon ok?" Samuel told the beasts, hoping they would understand him.

Luckily, that seemed to be the case as they gave him a last cuddle before leaving the scene. 'They are able to understand me better than the beasts from the forest, it's probably because of their higher ranks.'

Seeing that they were ready to leave, Eva gave the order. "Samuel, we need to increase our speed to prevent other beasts from coming near us again, therefore I will have to hold you physically so I won't have to use my energy to carry you. Girls, I know what you are thinking but I'm sure you understand that this is not the time to joke around. I can fly far faster than you two so that's why I will be the one carrying Samuel, understood?"

They all knew Eva was right so nobody argued about it either, and so, Eva grabbed Samuel and held him tightly in the bridal carry, before quickly flying away.

After several hours of flight, Samuel who was tightly held by Eva was having more and more trouble controlling his thoughts. In the beginning, he was still able to distract himself but it didn't take long before his mind started wandering and began to have improper thoughts.

"Y-Yes of course, we will have finished crossing these mountains any minute now and there won't be any dangers on the outsides either, so it's not a problem at all," Eva said innocently as if nothing had happened, before releasing and enveloping him with her Ki.

Although Anna still didn't notice that something was going on, Sarah felt something was not right here. When she gave it some more thought and looked at her master from behind, she saw that the skin on her neck had turned slightly reddish! 'I knew it, my intuition was right after all!' Sarah thought.

"Master... Be honest with me, you haven't done anything improper to Samuel did you?" She asked suspiciously while she looked at her with narrowed eyes.

"M-Me? Of course not! How dare you accuse your master of such things! I'm not like you, some horny teenager in her puberty who is unable to control her emotions!" Eva rebutted angrily, acting gravely offended.

"Hpmf! Don't you think I know you by now master! You might appear like an innocent angel from the outside, but I know damn too well how dirty your mind is!" Sarah didn't believe a word she said!

When Eva heard this, she flinched and started panicking a little, that brat is way too smart! She should have only accepted less intelligent students like Anna, at least she didn't notice anything!

"Hmpf, such baseless accusations! You can't prove anything!" Eva said, before she quickly ended the conversation and started speeding up, she couldn't wait to reach the academy!

It was only twenty minutes later when the group had finally passed the last remaining mountains and had finished crossing the great dividing range. It would only take one more hour now before they would arrive at the academy!
