Chapitre 12: Chapter 12

Everyone pulled out their phones and checked the schedule, and they found that their group was all on the first day. Jake was right after Lilly and right before Rex. The rest of the morning people spent the time talking about how nervous they were or how excited they were to get their groups. When they had finished, everyone moved to the courtyard where the fountain was, but it had been switched with a massive arena that was many times larger than the original structure.

The first challenger entered the arena, battle ready with his sword. The first round started and a training dummy emerged from the ground. It was around 6 feet tall and had a large one digitally displayed on its head. It held no weapon or intelligence, and just charged directly at him. The arena put a holographic image above the challenger's head, it said Fred Smith. Everyone was sent an online form for people to write down the descriptions of each person and their powers so they can remember all the options for when they started to form groups. Fred just had his basic sword and slashed, almost cutting it clean in half. It only made it part way through but the golem still stopped. It got back up, with two now engraved on its head, indicating it was moving to the next level. It now had at least a bit of technique.

When attacked, it dodged and attacked somewhat quickly. Its stats were now closer to 10 each and the increase was clear. Fred and the golem dueled for a few minutes, and Fred won in the end. Level 3 began for him, and the golems stats had doubled. This time it held a sword and began to slash and trust somewhat recklessly. Fred blocked a few times before falling to the machine.

Challenger two approached with an assault rifle, and made it to round 3 before he lost. Losing on level 3 was a commonality among most, even if a few couldn't make it there.

Lilly approached the stage, letting her ice blue hair out of a bun as she pulled out a staff. Lilly was the first person with a somewhat rare class that had come up. She was a wizard, and could use all four elements at level one even if they were weak. She had to have a base magic stat of 35 when awakened just to get the class, and her power did not disappoint. A simple fireball knocked out round one and two, a pillar of earth crushed round three without much struggle.

Round four came up, now empowering its sword with elementless magic, and having all of its stats equal to forty she would have a much bigger issue. It was still pretty dumb, but it outspeed her by a ton. She then proceeded to transform into a dark crow, flying above its attacks. It then began jumping up and down trying to catch her, but after around twenty minutes it eventually lost to her pure magical firepower. The next round was no contest at all. She was knocked out of the sky within seconds and finished before she hit the ground. Her opponent caught her and set her down before she left the arena. It was now Jake's Turn.

Jake was nervous, but the walls were one way so he couldn't see the audience even if he knew they were there. He had grabbed a spear and put all three pieces of jewelry on before entering. The spear was just to save mana and ki until he needed his claws, but also a chance to show off. The first and second round were a breeze, taking them out with just a spear to the chest. The third one began attacking, but having already seen it fight he knew after a few blocks he would have an opening to strike. He could block proficiently, but his counterattacks were too difficult to perform. He soon switched his claws on to the point they looked like normal flame claws.

With them he could freely attack and block. It didn't take long before Jake finished it off. There was a lot of cheering for everyone past stage three, and he hoped that they would be no different. He couldn't hear them, but he was fighting and winning in a tough battle for the first time and that made his blood rush, giving him new strength. Level four empowered its blade, preparing for battle.

Jake had a lot better physical stats than Lilly, so he wouldn't have to fly or rely purely on attacks to win, but at the same time he doubted he could win against it. It was more than twice as fast and strong as he was, but using some better footwork and expanding his claws to double their original size and igniting his hands. He used them on both his hands and feet so he could run faster and on walls as well as attack well. He could barely keep up with it, but using his thungers howal from his foot to boost him forward he could build enough momentum to properly block and attack. They were somewhat even, but around three minutes in his ki and mana ran out and he was forced to forfeit. There was no actual way to forfeit, so he had to let himself get slammed into a wall… Again.

After leaving the arena, he went down to his seat. People where not allowed to get up before the day was over or it was there turn, so nobody approached him yet, but he had definitely shown how strong he could be be with what he had at the moment, and with how fast he grew in the training dimension with just a bit of work he could keep up with the combat classes, and make sure that everyone in his group could would good items to pass the rest of the groups.
