Chapitre 46: Consider The Following

A/N: On the topic of the vote. That was a tie due to me also voting. Take that as you will, but I wanted to do an overseer. Since it was a tie I will be doing the overseer since it is my choice.

You'll see what that means before the next vote. Hope you all have a good day, so enjoy!

____________

POV: Astaros

____________

The smell of scorched earth filled my nose as my disfigured helm rose to meet my opponent.

Iridescent blast marks marred my armor as flickering charges of electricity writhed across me. My blackened and melted horns, bent and fractured horn no longer whistled in the wind.

The pair of eyes staring down upon me then shifted from arctic blue to emerald to a rosy pink. The damage core spun as my mind sharpened and the ringing in my ears went out.

"I do not fear you." {Astaros}

My knees buckled as I barely managed to stand in the face of my own weakness. The orange glow of shattered and burning trees washed across me, reflections of flames streaking across the un-tarnished pieces of armor as I struggled to stand. Only straining metal and snapping ligaments heralded my ascension as I tried to reach my full height.

"You shouldn't." {???}

A beautiful empty blue stretched across my sky, its depths unknown and unseen. A soft whistling breeze told me of my own foreboding notions as waving shadows swayed overhead. The hard gnarled tree trunk creaked and groaned in the light winds, wrinkles permeating it's elderly bark.

Under my silver hand sat a ball of insolence and indolence, peaceful breaths misting upon my armor. A sudden stray zephyr murmured it's piece prompting the waving grasses to roll in turmoil as though fearing the future it had offered.

The soulscape was empty besides me and Val Systin, the playful laughs of Dryis and the embarrassed stammering and bickering of Fillia offering me no respite from my anxious thoughts.

It was the letter I had received from the church.

A request to meet, without reason to it. It's ominous contents concerned me as I had no knowledge of how high up the food chain I stood.

They called me SS class but that was a single lonesome title I had gained.

That does not make me the most powerful there is.

Only when I can wipe out armies with a wave of my hand shall I ever stop worrying about an obvious trap like this.

At least it feels like a trap. It could also be a surprise of sorts. Or a confidential meeting.

I don't know. It just doesn't feel right.

The letter simply stated that they wished to meet me alone.

The sky began to darken as swift winds began to blow. Concern and curiosity whipping up the tree and its surrounding grasses into a frenzy.

Billowing winds lifted the creaking branches as Val Systin raised his head from under hand and peered into the darkness of my helm. His deep blue eyes offering me a slight calm in the rushing winds of my blaring thoughts.

"I see." {Astaros}

The wind abruptly stopped and the tree slowed in momentum as it came to a stop. The green grasses resumed their synced swaying as I stood up and prepared to wake from my dream.

I was going to face the church and whatever they had in store. I'll simply have to see it all for myself.

"After all, I'm not alone." {Astaros}

I stroked Val's fur one more time before I curled my hands into a fist.

My eyes flashed silver for a moment as whirling winds suddenly whipped me from my slumber.

My eyes opened to low early morning light filtering drawn drapes within my wooden room.

Two centers of warmth lay on either side of me, one Fillia and on Dryis. Fillia's tail's coiled around my waist while Dryis held my arm and snuggled her face into my neck, her legs reservedly intertwined with mine.

I rose slowly from the tangle of limbs holding me down as my blurry sight prompted my eyes to begin to circulate light element to adjust to the dim morning.

A low yawn from Fillia took my attention as she rubbed her eyes and stretched her arms before smacking her lips.

"Morni'n Asty" {Fillia}

Oh. Now that's new.

"So I'm Asty now?" {Astaros}

She froze, as she realized what she said, her face turning red as she then covered it.

"So that's why you couldn't come up with a name, You already had one in mind." {Astaros}

"schhut uhp" {Fillia}

Her speaking was slightly muffled from having her hand pressed into her lips.

"Hey Dryis look at her fa-" {Astaros}

I was cut off by her hand covering my mouth as Dryis mumbled out her disapproval of her awakening.

"Five more minutes please, besides we have time right?." {Dryis}

I swung out of bed, dodging Fillia who shifted out of the way as well.

I stood up and began undressing, grabbing a nearby towel as I prepared to enter the bath.

"I came to a decision on what to do last night." {Astaros}

Fillia's chartreuse eyes slitted as she heard this, consideration and openness swirling within them.

"You're going aren't you." {Fillia}

I shrugged.

"It would be rude to ignore them. But I'm not going without some preparations and…" {Astaros}

I placed my hand on her cheek.

"I hope you'll come with me." {Astaros}

She blushed slightly as began to look up and I leaned down.

"AH! Fillia, you're trying to get ahead!" {Dryis}

The sat on the edge of the bed gripping it as she puffed out her cheeks.

"You snooze, you lose!" {Fillia}

Though I could feel the embarrassment coming off her in waves she hopped up and kissed me on the cheek, surprising me. Dryis gasped as she ran away and ran off after her leaving me in the room alone.

"Well then, let's take a bath and go make some preparations." {Astaros}

'But still those two act like children sometimes.' {Astaros}

'WE HEARD THAT!!' {Fillia and Dryis}

'And yet they still manage to retain their attentiveness.' {Astaros}

After leaving the bath and getting dressed I headed to storage, my armor crawling across my skin as I slowly was encased.

It was now second nature to be completely armored.

If I had a nickel for everytime I scratched something glass because my gauntlets were on when they weren't supposed to be I'd have two.

Which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice.

I entered the storage room and heard some slight movement.

I walked up to the storage room only to find…

Christine!?

"Oh hello there." {Astaros}

"Hey Astaros." {Christine}

Before an awkward silence could ensue I sat down and expelled several disks onto the table, each one having a symbol that resembled the Shattered Star melted into one of the faces.

Around the rim were the very words imprinted onto the original blade.

These were my preparations.

"What are those?" {Christine}

"So you're interested? Well I'll tell you because you're getting one anyways." {Astaros}

He grabbed one and his hand glowed with a brilliant gold glow which slowly turned blood red as his divinity was imbued into the medallion. Christine covered her eyes as the glow turned into a grand flash, which flared for a moment before the room returned to normal.

She blinked several times before her sight returned, the blinding light nowhere to be found.

Her eyes then looked down upon the silver medallion, which now had several scarlett trenches running through it, all of which pulsed in unison.

"What is that?" {Christine}

I leaned back in my chair twirling it between my fingers before holding it between my curled index finger and my thumb.

"This is a gift." {Astaros}

I then shifted my fingers and flipped it like a coin towards her.

"What is it?" {Christine}

Her curious eyes were now in witch mode, scanning the device for clues to it's function.

"It's called an Aegis medallion. And its my middle finger to the realm of the divine." {Astaros}
