I’ll meet you guys out by my car in a few minutes. I have to perform again later, but I know you’re working tomorrow and you probably need to get back home and grab some sleep. Love, Brandi.

Darren passed the note to Darryl, who read it quickly. “Guess we better go. That’ll get us out and away from the bruiser on the other side, too.”

Nodding his agreement, Darren pushed his chair back enough to stand. They emptied their second beers before they got up and made a slow way to the door. Malo gave them a hard look, but he didn’t say anything. At least Darren was sure they had not done anything they shouldn’t, except for not having a tip for the waitress or money for the dancers. He couldn’t help that. Next time they would. He wouldn’t come back until they could afford to be generous.

It was not much darker outside than in the club. They walked around the building and saw Brandi standing by her little red car.
