Jamie had Jim drive him over to see Greg that afternoon. Greg repeated the advice he had from the night before, “Don’t speak about love, that will scare him, believe me, I know. Take each day as it comes, if it gets to be too much, leave.” Greg leaned back.

“As far as the sex goes, if you feel like having penetrative sex, do it. No one expects a virgin anymore, especially a gay virgin. I know you wanted to give it up to someone you love, but you have, if you think about it. The fact that he doesn’t love you is sad, but you can have sex without love on his part and maybe it will bring you closer. Don’t close your mind to the possibilities.”

Jamie stood. “My time is up. Thanks for seeing me on such short notice. I know Bull and I are stretching your ethics because you see us socially, but I appreciate the exception. I don’t know what I’d do without you, Brian, and Jim.”

“Brian and Jim are a very good support system, believe me, I know. Call me if you need me.”
