Late Sunday evening, November 20

When Enzo came into the room, Gray was quietly crying on the bed. He sat down next to Gray and rubbed circles on his back. “What’s wrong, baby?”

“Mom goes into the hospital tomorrow. I don’t know why they couldn’t have waited until after Thanksgiving.” Gray sobbed, burying his face in the pillow. “For so long it was just the two of us and all I could manage were a small turkey, potatoes, and green beans. Now when she can have a memorable holiday surrounded by a loving family and friends, she has to go to the hospital three days before. This may be the last holiday she has.”
