“Let’s go. We can read the offer at my house. Do you want to stop by and check on your mom?”

“Would you mind? I didn’t call her before because I don’t want to wake her up twice in one week. She needs her sleep. But I’d feel better if I could leave her a note.”

“I’ll follow you over.” Enzo made sure that Gray got into his car then walked over to his own. He stayed behind Gray until they reached the parking lot of Continental Gardens.

There were police cars in the lot with their dome lights blazing. Gray didn’t even bother to park his car, he left it where it stood and hauled ass to his building. Tamika sat with Genevieve who was shaking like an unbalanced washing machine. Enzo followed him inside.

Gray ran over to his mother. “Mom, what happened, are you okay?”
