“Well, I just always considered Great Falls romantic,” Jason said, looking over at Howard sheepishly.
“I considered it romantic too,” Howard protested. “It’s the first place you and your family took me when I came home with you from college that Thanksgiving. I thought it was beautiful.”
“I thought you were beautiful there. It was one of my favorite places, and to see you there…” Jason said, letting his voice trail off.
Howard turned to him for a second, and then put his eyes back on the road. “I never knew it meant that much to you.”
For a moment, no one spoke, and then Jason said, “There’s a lot that went on in my head that you didn’t know about.”
Howard kept his gaze on the road, but nodded. “I’m sure there was.”
They drove for a few more minutes until they reached a part of the beltway that made them choose directions.
“So, are we definitely going to Great Falls?” Howard asked.
“I would like to,” Jason said. “If you’re not interested though…”
