“I was told to just leave her there,” Richard said softly.
“The longer we leave her there, the harder this will get. In essence, she’s a political prisoner, but we can’t go public with that fact because the whole world thinks she killed Ascensio. She’s being held hostage and we have no knowledge of where she is. I’ve had agents down there for months and no one knows anything. I can’t go the Ollie North route this time. Ollie was lucky when he switched the funds from Iran to Nicaragua but now, everyone’s watching for something like that. There are too many watchdogs.”
Colonel Oliver North had created quite a scandal when he secretly diverted funds and munitions from the Iranian aid budget to help the Nicaraguans. He’d been imprisoned for his deceit.
