“Are you happy?” asked Cyprian.
“I am,” replied Brennus, kissing him. “I’ve never been so happy.”
“Then come with me. I think you can be happier still.”
Cyprian led him down a gradual, grass-covered slope. This led them to a rockier slope, which appeared to descend to the rocky beach. Slowly and carefully, both men navigated their way downward. At the beach, Cyprian removed his clothes.
“What are you doing?”
Cyprian looked at Brennus and smiled. “We’ve come all this way to the sea. How can you leave without experiencing its embrace?”
As Cyprian ran towards the white-capped waves that gently crashed onto the smooth stones, Brennus removed his clothes and followed him to the edge of the water.
“It’s cold,” he gasped, wading shin-deep into the liquid.
“Not once you get in.” Cyprian waded out deeper until the sea had swallowed all but his head.
