“Thank you,” David said with a wide smile. “Such a gentleman.”
Tobias smirked at David as he occupied his own chair. “I can be both gentle and rough, if you catch my drift.”
David snickered. “Is that a warning?”
“It’s a promise.”
“I’ll hold you to it.”
“Anytime, babe,” Tobias retorted before lifting the lids off the center dish and distributing the food to their respective plates. Then he poured some wine for each of them. “So, how do you like the garden?”
“It’s gorgeous.”
“Not even a fraction of your natural beauty, sweetheart.”
David blushed. “You’re a smooth dog.”
“Simply stating the truth.”
“Don’t overdo it. I’m a shy man. I will turn red from head to toe.”
“I don’t believe you. Maybe I should strip you naked to ensure you aren’t lying about reddening all over. What do you think?”
David snorted. “Ha! Nice try, but no.”
Tobias pouted a little before shrugging in defeat. “Oh, well. I gave it my best shot.”
