“Well. Thank you. You didn’t need to do all this. Not just for me.”
“Too bloody
right,” Rob said. He was standing in the kitchen doorway, a large apron on his
athletic frame bearing the legend “Rugby Players Beat Off Better”. “It’s not
just for you.”
The front door
jangled.
Patrick turned
to see Lee sidling his way in, his eyes growing wider and wider as he took in
the decorations. He had a messenger bag over his shoulder and a small cool-bag
in his hand.
“Patrick?” he
said, wonderingly.
“The other
celebrity guest!” Eddy crowed.
“Time for
cupcakes!” Rob said with a satisfied grin, and disappeared back into the
kitchen.
Patrick rounded
on Bryan. “Who else is in on this meeting?”
“Just you two.”
“And everyone
else, it seems!”
“No.” Bryan
slid his arm around Phiz’s shoulders. “We’re all out of here now. It’s up to
you two to sort things out between you. But next time we see you, we expect to
see a couple.”
